my bzflag movie!

well, i finished my bz movie. it was a lot of work.

brad is hosting, but Saturos, coin , and malaria may host it also.

it was made on a mac and saved as a QuickTime movie. linux users seem to be able to view it ok, but windows users maybe not.

i think the vlc viewer for windows works.

if necessary, i will re-compile it as an mpeg4 and see if my hosts will put that version up, also. that should work with windows, i think? i don't know much about windows, so maybe someone else can advise on the best way for them to view this, or what i can do to change the format?
qd told me that windows users must download the FULL version of QuickTime software (it's free), then they can see the movie in the firefox browser or Internet Explorer.

download the full version of QuickTime here:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

QUICKTIME VERSION:
http://brad.bz/danceexpert.mov (brad's server)
http://bzflag.saturos.de/stuff/danceexpert.mov (saturos's server)
http://fabien.degoutin.free.fr/BZFLAG/danceexpert.mov (coincoin's server)
http://www.fraumanns.com/danceexpert.mov (malaria's server)

ok, i compiled the MPEG4 VERSION for those having trouble on pc's:
http://bz.brad.bz/ATG/danceexpert2.mp4 (brad's server)

i hope you enjoy it. crank up the volume, and keep the viewer big!:

OMG... that made my day and it is still early :D :lol-old: :D :lol-old: That took some real planning, and some great camera angles. How long did it take you to get all the video?

Oh, and by the way it works just fine on Windows, Firefox and Quicktime.

Donny,

yes, i thought about it for a couple weeks. then, i had to shoot the recorded battlefield action about 15 times until i got some skill using the observer keyboard keys to roam and re-shoot the action on the replay server. it would be easier if the devs gave mouse control and some keys too, like WASD (as suggested by JeffM). so eventually i was able to anticipate where the tanks were headed and i got into position for some good shots.

oh, i should mention... first the battle action must be recorded by the server. then you go to the replay server to see the recording. that is where i shot for my video (you do this from observer while roaming). so i replayed the action over and over until i felt i got enough good shots.

i guess i shot video from the recorded action about....2-3 hours.

i'm glad you liked it! thanx for the feedback.

You probably should know that the action itself wasn't planned at all... my teammates Bachelor and SAMY were at my house and we thought it would be funny to drive in one line (possibly cap in a match that way). So we aligned and drove around... a fourth joined us, a fifth, a tenth and so on until we were 14 people performing a polonaise. It was so nice. :lol-old:
Much more fun than an official league-match. ;)

Thanks to all who joined us and especially to ATG PRODUCTIONS for creating this awesome movie! :o

Have you got QuickTime? You might need the newer version.

For me, on Win, the Mpeg4 version was only audio and no video.

On Linux, the .mov played fine in VLC.

What version of QuickTime do you have. Just about everything uses the new version.

Well, there is Fraps, or you can just get a video capture card. Although, using fraps will bring your frame rate down drastically.

durf,

i used Snapz for mac. i'm not sure if there is a Snapz for pc. it worked pretty well, once i experimented a little. it is shareware and you can find it on versiontracker.com

oh, i keep forgetting i'm signed on under my gu league account...sorry.
