Has anyone here ever play the old Mac game 'Spectre'? I've been looking back through my old computers, and found this gem. I have spent countless hours playing this addictive tank game!

I'm not sure this post has much to do with BZFlag.

Oh man... Spectre is awesome. Sometime it might be fun to modify bzfs to allow a single player to play a similar playstyle.

Spectre was cool. I actually got a friend at work to buy a copy and we played at lunchtime - think that may have been SpectreVR...

It doesn't have much to do with BZFLag. Maybe it does....I wouldn't know I've never played Spectre, I might look it up now.

But yea, don't forget this is in the "General Discussion". So, it's in the right place.

PETER and Grace F:

Spectre is an old 3D tank battle game for Macs. You could customize your tank a bit, then you'd have to travel around grabbing flags, ammo packs, etc.

The version I've been using appears to be a beta release for Spectre VR. I always customize my tank to max speed and armor, with only 20 shots before reload, which akes the higher levels kinda tricksy.

For original Spectre, I always used medium speed, lots of armor, and medium-high ammo.

I always went full-out custom... and I always had my "coast" on 7 :D

I loved the coast!!! Actually, I think that if coast was added to the controls for BZFlag, that might even convice me to switch from mouse...

Played and loved this game. I believe it was the first Battlezone clone to utilize flags. Spectre VR featured network play as well.

Considering it was released commercially in 1991 and work on BZFlag started in 1992, could it have been a possible influence on BZ?
