well alot of factors affect this. Two Tanks i would easily be a 8 or 9 and on the very rare occasion a 10 (when i can be bothered to stay on for longer then 30 minute intervals lol).
castlewarfare i would give myself an overwhelming 2 or 3 for the basic factor i literally suck at the map beyond all comprehension and tend to die on average once every 3-4 seconds lol.
bloodbath though is an odd one and depending on how i feel and what music im listening to, it can vary from between 4 and 8.

I'd easily call myself a 6 to 7. Though I notice many players online are better than me, I'd say I am better than more than half the players that play BZFlag. No map I play on really changes my skill level as I use the same tactics for every single map. I do not snipe, I like to stay active and run around the map killing anything on the map. I tend to raise my priority on the colored team that keeps trying to cap our flag. That's basically what I do for all maps.

That is a pathetic description of the scale. (hope that didn't sound too rude, but it is). No clue what's in between, whether 5 is between 0 and 10's skill or being 10x (or any other number) better than 4, etc.plokijuy wrote:0 being the worst player 10 being the best, this is just an honest truthful rating of yourself

Assuming you mean 0-10 e.g. like a pain scale, I'd say how skillful I play is heavily dependent on:plokijuy wrote:0 being the worst player 10 being the best, this is just an honest truthful rating of yourself
1. my lag
2. other people's lag
3. speed of bullet (fast?)
4. tank speed (unusual?)
5. whether i'm trying or not
6. how skillful other people are
7. etc
In other words, it's complicated. If someone who has played against me a couple of times was to rate me, they'd probably give me a lower rating than what i'd rate myself, because to them, i'm just going thru their bullets.
Another thing is that, with 300 lag I might be beating someone 15:5 in a certain time frame. With 100 lag I might be losing to them 10:12. What does this mean?
[don't reply with an argument about lag]
i would rate myslef a 6 to 7 (more 7 then 6) probably on some days 8 but that's rare ...
On Jumping Skillz i would rate myself a straight 8.5 ^^

rating
i give my a 5-6/10
I've been playing this game quite regularly for many years (under different monikers) and I can only confidently score myself at 7.5. I think to objectively score yourself higher than that, you have to be one of the few players who can truly pwn at any map. It's very hard to do. I've personally come across very few players that good; I can probably count them on one hand.
On maps I frequent, I'm probably as close to 10 as I can get. On maps I'm not familiar with which have different settings, it's embarrassing.

I LIKE to think that I'm around a 4 or a 5 ... just pretty dang mediocre, but on the low end of mediocrity. But as with us all, some maps I'm better at than others, like Louman's Mystic Valley (I THINK), and this one that I can't remember the name of, but was fun because the admin, "sv something-something" (can't remember nonsense number string) was changing the server variables, and I did well (I'll say 7-ish) there for a bit.
