I beg to differ, I play with a combination of mouse and keyboard, arrow keys to drive, left button and scroll wheel to shoot, right button to jump, middle to drop flag.shadowscorpion wrote:... because you only need one button.

Mice
Argh,
Now why does the industry come up with this stuff?
Keep in mind that the macro functions of these mice are explicitely not permitted to be used by GU league players and had been rejected to be added to the whitelist. We had macros before and decided against the use of them.
Even the three fire button is highly questionable since it doesnt just fire three times but will add slight delays inbetween. In either case this button is not on the whitelist either so not to be used by league players either.
If things become worse with these mice it might result in other leagues adopting these policies as well instead of relying on the public server policy of the GU league only.

Re: Mice
The industry comes up with mice because people buy mice (and the drivers) with money. The more mice they sell the better it is for them therefore they want to attract users. That way they ship mice with PTFE feet, a high DPI resolution and fast response time. On the other hand they want the mice to be cheap to produce, so they use USB instead of firewire because firewire license costs 1€. USB is harder on the users CPU and as such it can cause jitter at heavy movements, assuming CPU is not too strong and poll rate is 1000HZ. People also like good drivers so companies want halfway good drivers. However in Mac OS X Logitech's drivers are one of the worst things, ever.wizard wrote:Argh,

If the driver can help people to play better then companies will add the helping features.
The 3 shot thing is not helping as it confuses timing. Many standard drivers offer repeating actions executed after triggering one button. They key here is that only the same action can be repeated. GU league admins only decided about multiple actions being executed that are different. If that is not the case, then communicate it to the players. However I do NOT know any driver from "official sources" offering that kind of feature. Even if one does then keep in mind those things are very hard to achieve as you need the driver to be in sync with your client. (I do not want to go further into this as I don't want to help people trying to program such a thing.) There are other things I'm concerned in drivers but again I don't want to point them all to it.wizard wrote:Keep in mind that the macro functions of these mice are explicitely not permitted to be used by GU league players and had been rejected to be added to the whitelist.
