2.0.8 is the current release version, and most people play with that version.

Since the source code is available, you could build a beta version if desired, but it's not necessary.

I would encourage people to try out BZFlag 2.0.10RC2 as well. Server owners are encouraged to build the latest v2_0branch from the SVN repository.

I'm using RC2, and it works very well. Is there a way to control the size of the window after minimizing it? Also, when I unconfine the mouse, wierd things happen, and when I revert to full screen mode, the mouse is confined to the windowed area.

I am using RC2 on Windows XP on a Intel-based Mac, so maybe that creates some idiosyncracies.

That occurs on Windows as well.

I'm on BZFlag 2.0.10 RC1. But most are still on 2.0.8, there isn't much difference between the two.

There are some bug fixes, and a few features. The real push for 2.0.10 was to fix bzflag for the linux distributions that were being frozen for release. There were some distributions where the code was just broken, if I understand it correctly. (Which I probably don't :P)

It's still nice if you run an RC version. We won't (one can hope) be releasing another version of 2.0.x, so what you get is what you get. Any additional testing (and bug reporting) we can get is appreciated.

2.0.10RC3, and I have not experienced any real issues with GNU/Linux builds. I use Fedora.

I use 2.0.8, but recently built 2.1.x. Too bad there's only one server.

I looked at the changelog, and there's not much that I would really gain by switching to 2.0.10 (aside from Rabid Rabbit).

2.0.10RC3 since yesterday. Unfortunately it's a bad release as I have to leave the server with negative score most of the time ;-) Or is it simply that I'm a bad player?

The importance of using RC builds is that you are able to tell us about problems with the client before we do a final release. There are so many different operating systems, different hardware configurations, and different game situations possible that it's not possible for the developers to test them all. The only way for us to discover bugs in the code and fix them before the final release is for users to test the RC clients, and report the issues. Having a buggy final release really wouldn't be a good thing, and for that reason we encourage all players to test the RC builds if they can possibly do so.

If you see no point, then you didn't read or didn't understand the post just above yours.

There are some good changes in 2.0.10RC3.

JeffM wrote in his initial post about 2.0.10RCx:
We also took the opportunity to fix some bugs that were found after 2.0.8 was released. That doesn’t mean a couple small features didn't sneak their way into the code as well :)
Including:

Windows platform fixes ( confine mouse, fullscreen/windowed mode toggle, etc. )
Packet loss kick.
Extended observer info.
Security updates for chat messages from non player connections.
Favorite servers.
A number of new plug-ins and API enhancements.

Also I don't think all the improvements have made it into the changelog, You should give it a try.

Well, thanks to your nagging, I upgraded to 2.0.10RC3 (I think).

The only problem with the favorite servers is that your "favorites" might be deserted, or overloaded.
