Boxy was always a bloodbath for noobs.
Correction:
Bloodbath has pretty much
replaced Boxywar as the 'n00b' server, and Bloodbath was not around in the days when Boxywar was popular.

I played on Missile wars first and I loved it! Too bad its reputation has gone down because of blood bath. I really miss it

Silvercat rotation. I rarely played any other map. After Silvercat went off-line, I played Constitution's Tunnels.

Let's see... My first was Rain'n'Frogs, more years ago than I care to count. Really fun map - it's too bad it's always empty now (of course, it doesn't help that it was offline for, like, over a year).
And the lesson for tonight is:
Never underestimate the ability of a newb to expect instant success and cry "cheat!" when they don't get it. Don't hate the newb, just give them plenty of learning opportunities.

long time ago....memory fails me. I think it was something like a red vs. green ctf map without much junk in it and no flags.....

I've seen my friend playing on Spiral Zone and as soon as I arrived home and downloaded BZ, I joined Two Castles. That was many years ago.

The happypenguin map was really nice. I would love that one to be hosted in Europe again.
Anyway I think that I started out on a server with random boxes and overpowered GM's. That was fun.

you guys make me think! Well even though you might not believe it i started playing long long ago...Wierd huh well back when 10.8.0 (or somthin) was just comin off and the first 2 number version came on i was around by many names... i think my first sever/map was the one with PIE in the middle in huge letters... then it was THE BATTLE OF NORWAY!! that map was the best..
I took a break from bzflag then started back up again under "SirIchBeenCool" and i am doing ok..(not as good as before)
You all might now me now... but i was a beast back then...like those unregis. people at the top...
Good Times...Good Times....

The HiX map... when I was doing LAN wars with friends. It came along with the game.
Followed by Spirals (by BZDoug I think) and Mad City....

The first one I picked out was at random. Tad's GM War. You can imagine how horrified I was at how complex BZFlag was. The next server i went on was boxy, where I learnt to be a proffessional n00b.

When I started playing there were no custom maps yet, just a random set of blocks and a few teleports.

Ooooo...This is a hard one. Let me think... Oh yes! The first map I ever played on was Planet MoFo. I did pretty horrible.

/me tries to remember the first map I stumbled upon..
Aah.
It was Missile Wars by the almighty ducatiwannabe ..
All I remember was jumping around trying to dodge all the laser people were sniping directly under me.
Oh, those were the glory days..

team 6 server
pillbox map
with 2 pyros as number 6 in front of base
you could drop flag by the pyramid and your flag returns to the base
