Alliances

I have a question about alliances. Can you make allies when you are rouge and want to make allies with other rouges to work together to kill a player or
a team?

Sure you can. Say a Rogue has Guided Missles (GM) and there is another Rogue besides yourself. You two rogues could Private Message (PM) each other and say to work together until he's dead and then go back to normal playing.

You could ally overall, but it's best to be on a team if you want that.

But what I mean is... rogues should be able to make a temporary alliance that the server treats like a team.

So you mean, ingame, you press a button and choose your ally? Sorta like the hunt key?

possible, I say itll never happen. the whole point of rogue is that you are on your own, noone to back you up or help you. if you want allies, join a team.

The answer is an astounding Yes. You may, that is the beauty of Rouge, temporary alliances...

Especially if 1 rouge has laser, and the other has GM  i've been there done, that, and ticked off an entire server, reducing it to everyone creating an alliance to get you two... :-D

That would be pretty cool.

/team create "Tanners"
/team add "darthhid3ours"
/team add "WinXP"

:D

I like it.

But: I would imagine that it could be used to advantages, for example:

I am about to be killed by "Taner", if I went:

/team add "Tanner" he wouldn't be able to kill me, without getting a team kill death. (and possibly a kick)

If This was implemented, then you would need to have a confirmation set up so it had to be clarified with both/all people/ persons.

You could make it so it sends an invitation to the other player

[->]SERVER: Tanner wants you to join his team. Accept? (Type /join teamname or /deny teamname

I don't remember what the private message box looks like.

Ya you would need that. And custom colors! :D

Exactly what I mean. Key commands like that would be cool. 8) 8) 8)

by the obvious trap
maybe it could be a new style of gameplay :)

like a plugin that doesnt make you loose points when you kill a teammate so its a giant ffa but you can make teams but doing /team add "the obvious trap" or something. now that would be cool

I like the idea, it adds a dynamic new strategic dimension to the gameplay.

I'm thinking in ways of the toad-old game MegaLoMania.

I think it's important to distinguish between alliances and teams, ie. teams are a constant factor in the game, but alliences can be formed and broken as desired. And not just rogue with rogue with rogue, but rogue with green team with blue team with rogue...

Ruleset could be something like:
An ally is a team or a rogue. An alliance consists of allies who have agreed to ally(!)

To expand alliance: Everyone in alliance must accept the new ally (team, rogue, but not alliance), and the new ally must accept too, of course.

To leave alliance: Ally who wants to leave the alliance just leaves. The former ally now is an enemy again!

Alliances can be formed freely, as long as not everyone is in the same alliance (there has to be an opponent).

An ally can be expelled through a voting amongst the other allies.

Score and points are assigned to the alliance, but track is kept down to rogue or team level of who made the point. When an ally leaves the alliance, the ally (team or rogue) takes own part of score with them, leaving the rest to the alliance.

When there are no opponents to the alliance (last opponent leaves match), it is broken, either by auto-expelling last joined ally, or by dissolving the alliance completely.

"Alliance kills" work like team kills, but on an alliance basis.

In CTF, allies can not capture the other allys flag.

So, who wants to implement this ;-)

I see a slight problem in this. Say two people get on an alliance on rouge. They are both sniping next to eachother (maybe with laser and GM , w/e seems to fit best for you). Well , one could just leave the alliance and shoot the person right next to you.

However , if you really want a 'team' or an 'alliance' to be on , why not create or join an official one , such as [Cruel] or [Neo-Ronin]? But i see your point , if you implement commands to create them ingame , it would be faster. But for now , if you really want a(n) ally(s) , try joining/creating one first.

No..you are not understanding the concept at hand here...:

It basically would form a tempporary "team" between certain people, and if you went to kill then while you where still in this "team" the kill would be a effective TK...

A Clan isn't the same kind of "team"

i believe if you join a server and choose rogue, you should fight alone and die alone.

consider definitions of rogue:
# An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.
# One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.
# A wandering beggar; a vagrant.
# A vicious and solitary animal

rogue players are not team players..

Since a rogue is unprincipled, he cannot have a principle about always being alone ;-)

And just because you're on the same team doesn't mean they can't deceipt you. Your team mates can leave the game an reenter in an opposing team. Hows that for "unreliable" (ep_ !!! ;-) )

I think that you can easily find deceitful team members, and great allied rogues (se The_Red_Baron above).
