I most definitely would have to say that using the mouse is best. I tried the keyboard once, and it did not work.

I see a lot of ppl say that they've gone from keyboard to mouse, but never the other way around.

I used to use the mouse, and I totally sucked. I switched to keyboard and found it a lot easier. I do use mouse for precision jumping, but I find sniping (which is what I do most) very hard with mouse.

Well said. :) Glad I'm not the only one who hates shooting and aiming with the little rodent.

I use kb because I suck with a mouse except if I have 5 or more shots. Mouse is kinda fun but I definitely prefer using kb and I'm not bad with it because I've played BZ for about 7 years :D

not sure If I have already posted in this thread[tho my post are very little]..:S..anyway I prefer mouse, I can act much faster than I would do with kb, besides kb hurts my fingers. :S
And for all of you mouse haters, aiming with mouse gets easier with experience. ;) It's all about the reflexes.

i recently found a program called mouse trap that lets me control the mouse by moving my head (it tracks where the forehead is with the webcam)

I have to use keyboard for shooting and jumping though (doen't recognize clicks or blinks or the like)

control bz with my head!!!!! (its very very hard)

I want to use pedals and a racing wheel, but I currently prefer to use a mouse.

I started playing BZ with the keyboard. I tried the mouse a couple times, but could not get it to work for me. Then when I realized the truly limited qualities the keyboard has, such as not being able to control speeds, I forced myself to learn to use the mouse. Now I am better at the mouse and I like to believe that it has upped my game a little.

Keyboard all the way. Ive been playing bzflag off and on since about 2001 and ive never been able to handle the mouse. i just find it way to unpredictable. of course, ive always played video games with controllers or keyboards... ive never been good at games that /require/ a mouse for moving/aiming lol

however... i have my keys mapped specifically to the keys i find most comfortable. for example... movement is with the arrow keys. while the others are as follows

a= jump
s= drop
d= fire
w= identify
space= zoom/binocular
1/2/3/4/5 are my radar presets and radar zoom keys
/ controls my scores list. i toggle it often to see which super flags are in play on which teams if there are fewer than about 10 players. this allows me to track potential dangers on the radar if they are near.

So yes... i use two hands... but i find my shots are pretty accurate and im definately not the worst player :)

I have always used keyboard, but lately I have been trying my hand at mouse. I have become quite adept at both of them. It really does not matter to me at all, except for laser sniping. When I am sniping, I find it very hard to aim with mouse. It is much easier with keyboard.

Mouse ftw! I started out playing using the keyboard, but I just couldn't maneuver or dodge smoothly enough, and had a hard time with moving and firing due to the key config (which I've never really messed around with). Then I switched to the mouse once I found out I could do that, and it makes moving around so much easier. The aiming can be more difficult, but the timing gets easier with experience. But if I'm just sitting still and sniping, which only happens rarely, then sometimes the keyboard is easier for making small incremental aiming adjustments.
