i mostly use keyboard cuz it has a constant speed but 4 high perscision jumps i use mouse. i dont get how u people use touchpads!

It depends in what style your playing, but i prefere mouse

i use mostly mouse , but sometimes if i have no difficult enimies i play with kb

I use kb but I remap. space shoots, s jumps and d drops. I use the mouse when i need a short jump.

Joysticks are best, otherwise, i like keyboard. My keyboard is all set up so that i can move with one hand and i have other commands for my left hand the heys being a, s, d, f, and space. you can control the wholt tank with one hand when you have a joystick.

I don't understand, for some reason turning with the keyboard is about hlaf the speed you can with a mouse? On top of that I went to documents, My BZFLAGs, and there is no config file there. Is there a way to fix this? (I use Vista and a laptop so playing with track pad kind of sucks, so keyboard would be much preferred).

By default, the 'a' key toggles slow keyboard mode. It's there to allow keyboard users to make more controlled jumps if they need to.

I use joy stick, but if it had to be mouse or kb, it would depend what pc im on.
My laptop I used to use trackpad until I discovered it could bzflag with my joystick, but I would prefer keyboard to my trackpad.
If I were on a desktop I would use mouse, even though it is now alien because I use joystick, which RULES!!!!!!!!!!.

EDIT: I cant seem to find how to change spawn key, so here is my current J.S. mapping:

Right hand=Joystick=Fire
Jump
Drop flag
Pause
Self Destruct (who uses it much, though)
Move
And one other, i just cant remember what it is.
Left hand=Keyboard=Radar control
Spawn
Talk
And, when observing, observer controls.

I don't see how people use joysticks to play BZ. I never felt like I had a fast enough reaction time with one.

Wow thanks i always wondered what that button did.

And I use my joystick until the buttons started falling off. So i use the keyboard and sometimes the joystick. Duck tape fixes everything!

Hmmmm... maybe it's just me, but somehow this seems pointless, the poll is over and people just keep on posting the words "mouse" and "keyboard".

I learnt with the keyboard, but soon switched over to mouse at the advice of many veterans who were kind enough to take me under their wing for a night of Tank Wars 101.

Unfortunately I've been AWOL for weeks now so I've pretty much un-learnt everything I've learnt and starting from scratch again.

I use a game-pad, It has an analog thumbstick and a d-pad that I can switch on-the-fly. Triggers for jump, fire, pause/spawn, & drop-flag; buttons for: lock-on/identify, autopilot, hunt & binoculars.

Mouse, mouse, mouse! Many Mice!

Well, Keyboard is also nice to play but not as good as mouse. I play mouse because i started playing Bzflag with mouse and i will still play with mouse when i die! If i play with Keyboard i just don't have the control over the tanks as when i play with mouse.

Well I have to say mouse. It is hard to jump with kb. I got used to kb but then i got a mouse and found it much easier.

Mouse, coz 360 degree control, slow or fast speed etc. much more precise

Map all keys on mouse: left click jump, right click id/lock, middle click spawn, back scroll drop flag, forward scroll shoot...lol

I use keyboard, when I try BZflag for first time one of many things that I like was keyboard control, because I use mouse in very rare cases no matter what I do (not just playing) and mouse for me is a torturing device.I try to play with mouse several times but result is tragic ...i cannot make tank to stay at place , slight move with mouse and I fell from building, hard to make correct jumps and so on. But mouse has one big advantage - speed control, thats why I trying to use it...but no success .
