I think keyboard is much easier to use, but using a mouse is much better for jumping :D

personally, I prefer keyboard, but only after I have reconfigured all the keys. I have x, c, and v, as jump, identify, and lock on, and spacebar as fire. that way all my fingures are in more or less the same spot.

I use mouse. One day I tried playing with joystick, but I really sucked. It takes too much motion to even reverse direction, whereas my mouse is set very sensitive (since I have dual monitors and a lot of screen space to move across), so I can scroll across the entire screen (and thus turn, reverse direction, etc.) without even moving 1/4 of the way across my mouse pad.

After reading some of these posts I think I'm going to try keyboard for sniping, and also maybe when I'm in the air, because I always have trouble staying still with the mouse (possibly due to the sensitivity .)

I'm quite surprised that so many players use the keyboard for sniping, I much prefer the close control you get from a mouse - though I guess you could have problems with jitter if you play with high sensitivity, as scorchgeek was saying

Comes down to what you're used to I guess :)

I use KB, because I usually play on my laptop (on my lap, with no room for a mouse).

Just a question: how many of you folks who prefer keyboard have actually spent significant amounts of time practicing with the mouse? I started with keyboard, and when I initially switched to mouse it was hard to get used to, especially with jumping. But once I got accustomed to it, I had a lot more control. So maybe keyboard is easier, but if you get good with the mouse, you can do things that are literally impossible without it.

i tried with the keyboard twice but really don't like it...i think the mouse has more control with the speed and close range jumping. i don't know how to do the key mapping for the keyboard so i'm pretty bad at it.

I don't have a mouse yet for my laptop at college so I've been using keyboard. I hadn't realized just how much of a difference it makes having to fire and lock on with the same hand that I usually use only for jumping and radar control. It's much more difficult to keep track of where your fingers are on the keyboard.

I use mouse and keyboard - I fire and steer with mouse and the rest I do with Keyboard.

I used to lock/identify with right mouse, but since I have Apple's Mighty Mouse you cannot left and right click at the same time. Fancy design, but it isn't fully functional.

Now I use 'w' to lock, so I can fire and lock at the same time.

I prefer keyboards - but if I spent the time to learn mouse control I would use that. Variable speed control would help jumping and turn rate control would aid dodging....
