the font is really hard to read against that background, I'd make it black.

while the background is really cool, it rather distracts from the font, and can be irritating on the eyes.

I think you should find some way to make the text more readable with the laser background- It's cool it's just hard to read. Also, you should make the links more visible, because I had trouble finding those :D

HTML for giving your text a black background: <font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000">YOURTEXT</font>

Change #000000 to your color of choice 8)

Ummm... the background of that site is one of dw's crazy laser screenshots. It makes it hard to see the words. Maybe you didn't wait long enough for it to load.

Look, don't go all insane with the pictures and font size; go for simplicity first, then elegance. Start with a simple background and a font color that's easy to read, and keep the font size smaller even if you don't have a lot of text on that particular page. If you want a repeating background picture, don't use a screenshot but rather something that doesn't distract from the text at all. Add in pictures that don't overlap with the text using tables or something.

Yikes...can't read it. Try this: font color black, and open your laser picture in PhotoShop or something. Filter it in one way or another (lower contrast AND increase brightness) to make it much lighter, this way you can create a more subtle background. Hard backgrounds like this cannot be read upon :-) You could even play with the HUE values and set it to one color only. Would be far better for a background.

If you don't have Adobe's PhotoShop, try the free PhotoFiltre...very powerful!
