hey all!

this is my first map! its not finished as i am still trying to figure out textures. just wondered if you liked it or not! please suggest any improvments or ideas

Well Rank doesn't really matter now, does it?

You area more skilled mapmaker than most in the BZFlag community, because most of us don't even make maps

That is an EXCELLENT map for a first timer

you can test it without running it on a server, just use -bzfs and -solo

Yeah, he seems to already be running it locally, as seen in the screenshots he provided.

I'm still working on setting up the server. Busy night at work, and haven't had a chance to finish it up.

Server is running at bzexcess.com port 6000. 10 shot, 10 player. From a quick solo play, the map seems to be quite a bit too open. I have a lot of flags, so you could be able to test different styles of play.

What do you mean by bases?

If you just mean those walls in the corner, you can try something like this:

 color 1 1 1 1
end

meshbox
 position 0 0 0
 rotation 0
 size 1 1 1
 outside matref wallcolor
end
That makes a white box on the outside, but top and bottom are still normal. With color, the number order is RED, GREEN, BLUE, and ALPHA. They can be between 0 and 1.

With meshbox, it really just works the same way as box does, only we specified a material for the outside of the box.

Ah, I didn't even notice it was a CTF map. I'll update the server to be CTF.

EDIT: It is running CTF now, and I bumped the player count a bit (4 players per team, 6 observers, no rogue)

klkl...well...i cannot play on it right now, as i have proxy server restrictions! (AArrgg...so annoying) ill play as soon as i get the chance. has anybody played on it yet?

The playability is not that great, and well:

1) Too open?

Laser there is very, very deadly. Pretty easy to get into positions that allow you to clear everyone on the ground without dying yourself. And the teleporters are a major contributor to this.

it looks kinda like a HIX remastered. Its pretty cool. I have a server, but cant figure out how to get it up and running. Oh well! :wink:
