Not bad for a first map, but here's some tips:
Most CTF maps are symmetrical, here you went with an asymmetrical layout-generally it's hard to pull off a good asymmetrical 2-team CTF map.
It's too open, once you get past the middle line, it's almost all open-usually bad.
Try looking at popular maps, look at what makes them popular, don't copy, but learn from what worked well in the past, and try to see if you can improve on it.

Yes, it is very open around almost the whole map, fill it in and add a 2nd or 3rd level to Play on to increase the playing area. Don't make a full whole level just add blocks and steps so players can get up to them. Map sure you test the map out so you work out all/some bugs to make game play smoother. Take a look at a bunch of maps in the map release section and see what made them popular.

Ok, make sure you update the screenshots each time you update the map file
Ps, it's a map you made, not a server. A map is run on a server.

Here are some screenshots of the map.

You seem to have links for those teleporters on the map, but they seem to be unfinished/not made. (They all lead to the same place, from the same place.)

You go in observer mode and hold shift and press up and down arrows to go up and down, to tilt the viewing angle you hold ctrl and up and dan arrows.
If you want to make a really random map like you said you're doing you may want to make a FFA style map (free for all). As you can do almost anything you wish in it. CTF style maps should almost always symmetrical.

It's actually a screenshot from a map editor (evident in the screenshot where you can see the arrows coming out of the teleporter).

F5 in game on a private server.
print sreen then ctrl + V in microsoft paint then save and attach.
for the server just do this (I assume you're on Windows) open command prompt and type this

Code: Select all

cd C:\Program Files\bzflag2.0.10 [hit enter]
bzfs -world path/to/map/file.bzw
and here is a post all about setting up a private server on OS X made by CBG
http://my.bzflag.org/w/Category:Server
http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=3940
Please, pretty please, read it.

Seeing as how you've been badgering me about it, here it is. You just need to do one simple thing, copy/move your map file into your bzflag folder containing all the bzflag stuff.

Code: Select all

cd /Applications/BZFlag2.0.10/Contents/MacOS/
 ./bzfs -dd -world /users/noob/lousdesktop.bzw
just change the "noob" to your name and change the file location

Code: Select all

-dd
is debug you can have from one to four
-d
-dd
-ddd
-dddd
Each ranges higher and higher in the debug level.

Please Pleeease read the whole wiki about server and read the sample config and look for the mac OS X part in it.

I just told you, load the map into the server with the method provided above.

I played on it when it was full of people, and it seems to play ok.

My main complaint is that there are lots of things on the upper levels, but no easy way to access them. Almost all gameplay happens at ground level. You should make some teleporters on the ground that link to higher blocks. Also, add some more boxes that are short and wide enough to easily jump onto (eg 15 units tall), and easy to jump off and onto a higher box.

Some of the superflags are overpowered, too.
