Ocean Battlezone by Strakowski

Post by Strakowski »

This map has actually been out for a day (thanks to mrapple at BZBureau for hosting), but I haven't gotten around to writing this little blurb until now.

Well, anyway, this is my map, Ocean Battlezone (hosted at bzbureau.com:5194). My original goal was to create a map with clean, simple aesthetics and smooth gameplay with plenty of delicious angles to bounce shots off of. It is a two shot, no jumping, ricochet, team flags only, three way CTF, surrounded by water on all sides (though it's pretty difficult to fall in). The map has triangular symmetry and all the obstacles have been placed an rotated on various geometric planes.

The bridge is currently non-accesible. I removed the teleporters that once led onto the bridge because a) I had to jump through all sorts of hoops to keep it there, and b) it obstructed gameplay a bit. The only reason the bridge is still there is because the map looks a little barren without it, and the posts that support it are fun to bounce shots off of. Though there are barriers protecting all sides of each base, the back wall is shoothrough so shots won't fly around inside (a bit of an anti-spawnkilling measure).

That is a very nice looking map! I really like the layout of it.

Seems the server is down...

Why thank you! Yes, it is currently down. There was a large game going on earlier today, and suddenly everybody lost connection (heaven knows why) and the server dissapeared :P.

Here's another screenie I thought looked nice. The lighting on the ground is wierd because it consists of several meshes, but hey, I'll take it.

Update: mrapple has the map back up and running again
