Aztec Pyramids (Host?)

Post by Sniper752 »

Well, I finished my (first) map. I still (though i have tried and tried) can't figure out how to test it, but I am very sure it works properly. now it just needs a host ;)
I am releasing this under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license.
To whoever decides to host this: This is a CTF game, designed for use with Jumping and Rico. (and preferably 5 shots)
The name of this map is "Aztec Pyramids CTF --Sniper752"

Edit:working map and its config file are a few comments down

You should definitely test your own worlds/maps before looking for an host. I doubt anyone will be interested running untested maps.

I hope I didn't misunderstand you - but as long as you aren't even able to test your own maps you shouldn't spread them. (Especially when knowing how absolutely easy it is to run an own server with a specified map file.) Since it seems you aren't aware of the wiki: check out the bzfs wiki pages.

trust me, i am aware, and have tried, but I simply can't grasp it. I have tried opening BZFS (mac) and referencing my map, but it is so confusing. what I would like is for someone to host it for a day or two so i can test it. I use iBZEdit but the test map feature doesn't work, and the iBZServer doesn't take servers online

And you can't read the forum topics about hosting servers?

yes, and i have. just found another though: http://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?t=2915 and am following it.
But, I can't get the command right. I got into the right directory (contents>MacOS), then i type "bzfs -conf config.txt" (which is what the thread says to do) and it returns: "-bash: bzfs: command not found"

here is the whole terminal:

Code: Select all

The output after you put in the command means that you have an error somewhere in your configuration, the server is not running. You are on a Mac, the is no "C:" drive! The server can't find your map. Try changing the path in -World to "/Applications/Games/BZFlag/firstmap.bzw" .

-t is only for random maps, (to insert random teleporters) so you can remove that. You also need to add -mp (Max Players) in your config file. -mp 0,10,0,10,0,20 should work. (-mp rogue, red, green, blue, purple, obs) This will allow 10 players on each team, with 20 observers. The reason for this is to tell your server that there are no green or purple players, so that it won't look for a green or purple base. I think 25 is the default tank speed, so that -set has no effect. Hope this helps!

ok, here is the working map and the config file: whoever hosts this will need to add to the config file whatever needed to go online.
