Babylon IV Released

Post by LouMan »

Attached is a new map available for hosting (and screenshots), called Babylon IV. I am currently running it at louman.homelinux.net:5150, but others are more than welcome to host it - hopefully with a faster connection.

I will be taking a break from map making for a while, before my wife files for divorce  That is, unless I think of something really, really exciting that needs to be made

I hate you LouMan.
Why must you be sooo good?
lol

I don't have time to run it and try it out,
Is there a floor?
Can you drive on it or do you die?

It's real, M1A2. Looks like LouMan set his display quality setting to "Experimental" to remove the default grid.

Nice job, LouMan. :D

LouMan probably has a secret to doing these maps. I bet he's using a quasi-fluxcapacitor-plasma-inverter-neural-transmitter to translate his map ideas into working designed, plugged into a USB port of course. Not any port, but that much info would require USB 2.0 or Firewire. Yeah, that has to be it. ;)

But used improperly in the wrong hands, the accelerated amount of data can fry part of your head and burn away hair. Don't let your neighbor's daughter play with it...

That just goes to prove that what LouMan does can't be copied by anyone else. :)

You all are too kind *LouMan blushes.

Attached is Rev 1 of Babylon IV. Changes:

1) Fix teleporter problem on level 1 near red base.
2) Reduced slide time on caution areas
3) Flags are prevented from being dropped on caution areas.

Well, CannonBallGuy, he's probably just a fast-working engineer. Much like Dilbert when he's not distracted by co-workers from marketing or forum posters who doubt his ability. ;)

Great map

Post by The Purple Panzer »

This is a great map; I've been on it several times today, hoping someone else would show up, but so far, nobody has. I can't understand it: why is everyone at SecretPlace playing SpiralZone when this is running? (Sorry, that's probably part of a bigger point I'm confused about, trying to figure out server play patterns).

Can you get to the planets? Wings alone won't do it, but they seem to be 3D objects, but it's hard to tell.

If you had enough flaps on the wings, you could reach them. They are 3D objects (spheres), textured with .png's of planet surfaces provided by trepan (thx trepan!). If you were to go to them, I'm afraid that they would be a bit boring and ugly up close :(

Thank you for the positive comments about the map :)

That's because noobs just join one of the servers at the top of the liste where most of the other noobs are playing. :)

They probably don't know, or don't care, to join a good server and wait a little bit until that server gets bumped up on the list and more people join.
