I am going to be very blunt, this isn't cause I don't like you, but, those maps are not very good. They look like they where thrown together in 10 minutes.

you need to spend some time on these maps (more time) ,like I spend at least 3 hours no each of my maps, some times more and sometimes less, and I desgin them for looks and game play.

I was like this when I started too, I was making many maps all at once, but as I got good with bzedit, I spent more time on each map, and made them more complex.

take for example my chaos valley map it is pretty simple , was designed for gameplay and looks good, to acomplish all that, I spent almost 5 hours thinking of designs and erasing stuff. and the result was a good map.

your maps now, seem to look a bit rushed. just take a breath and slow down, you don't get respect from the quantity of mps you make, you get respect from the quality of your maps. :D

but I do understand, your just starting

with all respect,

I will also be quite blunt with this. Simplicity is good to a degree, but once that degree is reached, the playability of the map suffers. I make mpas that I consider simple, but there is still enough in the map to make it fun. and they are organized. and look nice.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

NO dont do that :( just spend some more time on them and iknow you have enough time because if all the last map took say 20mins and youve had 5 then 20 x 5 = 100 (1Hr 30Mins) which wuld make a pretty decent map ut htere would be only one and you dont have to make them all in one go you can make one and then carry it on the next day or what ever...
but DON'T GIVE UP

I made the mistake when I was a new map maker of making all kinds of complicated stuff that although I thought was cool, drastically took away from the game play. Simpler is better. There's no need to make half the map out of reach unless you jump 5 times.

oh no. Only Ducatiwannabe reaches dutchrai's level, almost. Check out the collaborator project. http://shellshock.bzflag.bz/tmf-collaborator.html He helped with it.

Feel free to try one of his maps at shellshock.bzflag.bz:4505 Currently running necromancer

louman - his maps are visually stunning! Beautiful, and the work of a master. But It is in my opinion that dutchrai's map exceed his when it comes to playability, and gameplay.

some may dissagree, but I think they both have equal amounts of playability.

(unless it is ratlab) it wins hands down :P

LouMan is a magnificant mapper, though gameplay could be 'slightly' better at times, but stunning graphics and touches and things. I enjoy his maps.

Dutchrai had art to his, not just boxes, and good gameplay. He is a good mapper too.

Ok, first of all, it isn't polite to call people bad mappers. I personally think Grand Slam is off to a great start. Simple is good, just not too simple. Perhaps, think about how you come across. You can either say:

1. It's pretty good, though it would be better if you added a few things such as *example*

Or you can go about this way:

2. It's too simple. Simple is good to a point but that is just plain bad.

Try to think about how you would want somebody to tell you about your map.

I enjoy your maps, Grand Slam, and don't give up mapmaking.

Eh, remember, criticism doesn't mean something is wrong with you. It's telling you how you could be better than the great you you already are.

Like I said, I like these new maps and such. Perhaps spend a tiny bit more time on these maps. They aren't bad, but people generally tend to like a little more to a map for strategy and such.
