The Gridiron 0.2

Post by PsYch0 »

Wahoo! The Gridiron is finally released -- Version 0.2!

Hosted at bzflag.dnsdojo.org:5154
I have posted a couple screenshots and the map file below.

Some things to consider:
(1) Non-registered players have next to no privileges.... they can spawn, view some info and stats, and that's about it.
(2) Registered players can talk, say, poll, etc. Everything you would expect.
(3) Therefore, server/admin enforced rules are minimal. I will make more rules, perhaps, as time goes on and players request a stricter environment. For now, just have fun. If the majority of you are not likeing someones behavior, etc, just /poll kick|ban them.
(4) NO TKs. That's the one absolute rule. I will soon implement a bot to watch these...
----
(5) The map is majorly for Stealth / Cloaking CTF.
(6) The map is large, therefore tank speed is increased to give some moderate movement about the gridiron; if you want to go faster, use the fast tracks!! yeah!
(5) Check out burrow hiding spots near base. They're sweet!
(6) Beware the Laser towers and the GM towers; they're fun to squat on, but you're shooting is limited... and if you're not the one squating on them, you get shot
(7) Need protection, look for the cluster of SW flags. ;-)
----
(9) Please use /report for all comments, suggestions, complaints, etc.
(10) Version 0.3 is in the works. It will allow more players per team, more shots (general and GM, Laser, SW), and perhaps some more obstacles ;-)

[edit] Now running server bzfs 2.0.9 !! [/edit]

The Gridiron0.2 BZW Map File. I use a standarad config for various maps, so the map file is generically named world_map.bzw.

It takes forever to get around, but other than that it's pretty cool! Good job! 8)

Concerning size and time to "get around" :

+ look for tank speed and shot speed changes in 0.3;
+ I'm considering some ways to either reduce the size of the map, but not the complexity... perhaps adding some more barriers to the gridiron... changing the width of the barriers so downsizing doesn't crowd the map... and other similar modifications
+ perhaps sloped walls on barriers to allow landing on them and shooting off of them ... also to minimze laser rico. But, to maintain insanity of laser rico, some walls may remain square...
