Roundabout

Post by LouMan »

Attached is a new map called Roundabout, with screenshots.

It is a relatively simple map, with no texture downloads. A 2 team CTF with rotational physics surrounding the bases - taking Dramamine before playing is highly recommended ;)

Cool concept. Duelling around the bases will be tricky. :)

Nice work, I likes it.

How many overall polys is it? (looks pretty low)

Win XP - it has a little less than 6000 polygons, with about 500-1000 of them being "Null" (not drawn).

It doesn't quite look as artistic as some of yours, but I think it will be very fun, as there is a new idea for playability here.

I'll be glad to try it out soon.

Good job!

Thanks for the comments - and yes it is more simplistic than a lot of maps I have created. I thought that a map that is less demanding on the video cards might be in order.

Please note that I had to make a minor modification to the map today (posted above) - my safe zone for the team flags was off a little...

The map is very good but it's hard to CTF as the flag is dropped when we are killed on the circle on rotation
And it's hard to jump to the base but it's fun as we can get many flags(fire range is too low)
Thank you for the map anyway.

You can never drop a flag on a surface that is undroppable (pyramid, base, etc...) I've tried it out a few times, and that is what makes it good, you don't need to throw the flag back to your base, just kill the person who is holding it.

This is a good map, but I think that you should be able to drop a team flag on on of the spirals instead of letting it float back to the base. Anyway, it does require some Advil before playing :gross: :gross: . :)

it's too bad we can't make the flags spin around. that might be fun.
