Dear lord dude, PLEASE look around at some documentation...

http://my.bzflag.org/w/

You can ONLY make 1.0 objects in BZEdit.
- Box
- Pyr
- Tele, link
- Base

Well, technically you could make 360 boxes, each rotated 1 degree and it would make a circle, right??

Hehe. Have fun with that one!

Not really...you will end up with lot of flickering then. HIX is a bad example in that regard.

For Hix it's a necessary evil. Had an arc been used, there would be "catching" issues between that and the surrounding boxes.

Of course, the map could just be converted completely to meshboxes, but it would look even worse. :)

Hang on. Even in LouMan's maps you get flickering (for example, the paintings on the wall in `LouMan's Desktop`). You can easly make more than a box or a prymid if you just use your imagination. (see below)

Tree

Inclining prymid

Disc

These are just some of the objects you can make in BZEdit, I can imagine there are many more. I made the disc out of about 8 sections I thing, there's no need for 100 or so. Sure they are nothing compared to what blender or wings can do but I don't think BZEdit is quite dead yet.

Making complex objects out of boxes is a big waste of polygons, especially when there are objects like arcs to do that for you. Is it that hard to just add some code by hand?

No not realy :D , I was just showing that you can easly make more than a box or a prymid in BZEdit.
I wouldnt realy call them complexed, they only take about 2 minuits to build, maby not even that long.

No, you are still only making boxes and pyrs, and teles.

You are just arranging them to look like different objects. There is is huge difference.

By the way, since HiX has been mentioned here already, I figured I would mention my current project of converting HiX to a completely meshed map. (Not mesh boxes, meshes.)

Save as .obj from client, re-export to BZW, and viola! :p

You'd have to leave the perimeter catwalk as regular boxes, though, to ensure smooth transitions through the teleporters as well as onto the bases.

L4m3r, I am making it so no mesh surfaces overlap. (As they do in the normal, and obj exported HiX)
