Help

Post by BladeBuddy » Sat Dec 05, 2009 6:04 pm

Hey I'm a begginer at map making - but I have this great concept in mind.

I currently need some help with details - just a quick how-to. (I'm using Mac)

1. How do you make 'worldweapons'
2. How do you make/apply 'textures'
3. How do you make wonderful shapes (i.e. spheres) without a degree in Blender (sotospeak)
4. Any other misc. tips would be appreciated.

Your help is appreciated.

1) http://my.bzflag.org/w/World_Weapon

2) http://my.bzflag.org/w/Material

3) Try:

4) You don't need to have a 'degree in blender' to make nice meshes. Read tutorials, look at the wiki. If you're not up to blender, try Wings3D - which is what I use, and is a lot easier to start out with. I started off by using it as a platform to learning blender. Then I realised that you can make just as good maps in wings, with a bit of thought.

I also recommend you know you know some basic geometry (coordinate systems, transformations, etc) and trigonometry.

Wonderful - I'll try my hand at Wings3D and I'll give some time to all those shape links. The World Weapon seems to be doing good - mastering the material might take some work though.
Geometry is not a problem. I learned all that in 'le colège'.

Thanks for the help.
