Removing flags when testing my map

Hey,
I am just getting into map making. I test it by starting a local server, and then using my map on that local server. However, the settings used for starting a new local server that override the settings I chose on my map (for example, shots, flags, etc.). How can I set it so that it doesn't?

Are you using the In game "Start Server" function?

You should not be specifying contradictory settings in both your map file and server options. Choose one or the other, or mix and match but don't specify the same option twice (unless using a repeatable option like adding flags).

Do not use the "Start Server" menu if you are. That is a terrible, terrible feature that serves little purpose other than to frustrate and break.

Alright, do you know how I could test it? Or know a link to a page that can tell me how to? Thanks :)

Search the forums for starting/running a server. This question has been asked and answered millions of time before.

Even just for testing?

It's the same. You have to do more (add 3 lines/parameters) to get a public server working. You can ignore them for creating a test server.
