Testing map

Post by Sniper752 »

So I am making a map in iBZEdit and want to test it, though the "test map" feature doesn't work
I have looked up everything about starting a server (on Mac) and can't understand (most of) it
I think the easiest way for me to test this is to go into the client, join game>start server, then change the map. Problem is, i don't know where to put my map file so that it will give me the option. Can someone explain?

Run 'bzfs' manually. We include the 'bzfs' binary within the .app. Right click on the BZFlag app, and choose "Show package contents" or something like that. From there, you'll be able to locate the 'bzfs' binary, and you can drag that into a terminal. It will write out the full path the bzfs that way. After that, you just have to pass the right options to bzfs, such as -world.

By reading blast007s post... and adding something like '-world /path/to/my/test.bzw' to the end of it

tried, didnt do anything, just moved the text cursor to the next line... and the whole config file thing that I was reading about earlier is just plain confusing. Is there not a graphical interface for BZFS? if not there should be, just something simple. this website makes is sound like it does exist, though i couldn't find it: http://code.google.com/p/bzflag-server- ... Quickstart

That means the server was running. Join 127.0.0.1:5154 and tada, your map appears. Turn on debug output if actually want to see the server tell you something.

Take time to learn, then.

Not really, no.

Feel free to work on one of the partially done ones in our SVN tree.

That's not something we are part of.
