Texture problems

Post by DeltaFlame »

Things I know:
I need to use the material, matref, and addtexture functions to get a custom texture onto my map

Things I don't know:
How to load a texture from the my pictures folder

I am making a map and all the BZEdit stuff is finished and I'm now onto loading textures but I don't know how to upload a texture from the my pictures folder or the internet. I have looked on the wiki and it doesn't say anything apart from this currently useless info
texture
set the texture (must be .png but don't include the extension unless on the Internet)
addtexture
add a texture (again, no extension is needed)
This tells me that I can load a texture from the internet but doesn't tell me how apart from the fact I will need .png in frongt of it.

Could somebody please tell me how to do this so I can
A. update "Guru's Garden" map.
B. add custom textures to my new map.

Thank you... maybe
Ragu sauce: If you gave this to someone who was actually from Italy, they'd punch you in the face.

Submit images here: http://images.bzflag.org/submitimages

Once they are approved you can use the link sent to you in your material.

For testing purposes you can use something like photobucket or imageshack.

So long as you remember to allow photobucket/imageshack for your clients in DownloadAccess.txt first.
And the lesson for tonight is:

Never underestimate the ability of a newb to expect instant success and cry "cheat!" when they don't get it. Don't hate the newb, just give them plenty of learning opportunities. ;)
