This is my first map, it looks pretty good in BZEdit but I don't know which folder to put it in to play it so could someone tell me or make a server with this map themself that I can play on with you.

Does it remind anyone else of Planet Mofo Passion of the FFA?

BTW- Here is a good topic to learn How to run a public server.

And here is the BZFlag Wiki Page for Setting up a server.

Both links are good and will get you similar information.

It's simple, certainly, but could prove to be a fairly fun map to play on.

You can't.

TangenT, perhaps explain how to add them instead of just saying how you can't? :) Though he is right, there ain't a way to put flags in via BZEdit. Try opening your map file using notepad or another text editor. When you have that open enter some standard options at the top. Here's an example.

options
-j #jumping
+r #riccochet
-ms 3 #three shots maximum
-mp 10 #maximum amount of players
-sb #spawn on buildings
-fb #flags can stay on buildings
+f SW{3} #that's the abbreviation for the shockwave flag. 3 flags.
+f GM{3} #guided missle
+f L{3} #laser
end

If you have any more questions or things you want added to your options file ask. You probably knew most of that and I gave you more than what you wanted. :)

Very nice. I don't know if you're finished yet or not? If not perhaps consider adding some pyramids on the ground. As blast said, laser would be mayhem without them.

There is a little be of resemblance to the Passion of the FFA map, however, I don't think it was meant as a clone. Very nice middle.

Shhhh, I just woke up.

Anyways, on the off chance he wanted those flags in certain places, he can take a look at this: http://my.bzflag.org/w/Zone

back to Sgt El Zilcho - that map very much did remind me of Planet MoFo. Anyway, I think the map could do with a bit more objects. :)

The objects he's got only serve as obstacles, with a height of 30, good luck to any tank around getting up there.

Yea I noticed that too....perhaps change the _gravity? That wouldn't be too good for gameplay IMO.

Maybe he just doesn't know the numbers for the height of a jump and such. If my memory serves me right, a normal jump has a climax of 18 units, but if you want something to be easy to jump on 16 is a good number. I checked the wiki, but it is missing a couple of important tank dimensions which I don't remember perfectly, including jump height and shot height.

You're right, Mostly Harmless!, an object 18 units high can be jumped onto. Though whether or not that is a "tank dimension" I'm really not sure.
The "shot height", or "barrel height" as I'd call it, is about 1.6 units.
You can shoot over an object 1.5 units high - but only barely.

Maximum height you can jump is 19, I believe, but that's near impossible. I've only done it once. 18's pretty difficult as it is, so I always used 15-17 for my highest jump heights.

by that exploding tank
If you go into the options and edit the _jumpVelocity on the map, you can get the tank to jump as high as you want it. Now, you don't want anything crazy like _jumpVelocity 100, but having it set to 25 would still be reasonable and almost unnoticable.

Well, it might not be a dimension, but it surly deserves notice somewhere.

well what would you like me to do? you say something could be done, but what could be done? I would put teleports in but I don't know how to link them.

Linking is pretty easy in BZEdit. You just create a ling object. It already has all the teleporter options in drop-down menu. If you want it easier, I would suggest naming the teleporters. It also draws little arrows that show whether tanks can enter or exit from the side of the teleporter in question. If you play around with it, you should have no problems.
