~~Easy Targets New Map~~

I've been working on this one for a few hours, its just the beginning of a beautiful thing, tell me what you think, you will need bzedit to view it though. Please feel free to give me suggestions on what you would think would be awesome if i added. thanks!!!

I looked at it (played it), and, while it isn't playable (one shot, no jumping), it's design is pretty plain. Not many objects, either. To make good maps, you'll need to learn some scripting by hand to perfect it. But, as a start, it's pretty good.

I give it 4/10 obscure, undocumented .bzw objects.

It was supposed to be 6 shots with jumping and good flags only, it is only a rough draft, i'm still adding stuff, pls give suggestions as to what to put in bare areas

I've updated again! heres the map with all the updates, as you can see, i have made it easier for snipers if they would feel like sniping, also I have taken into consideration F687's comment and have added more stuff to the ground, (not too much so its not cluttery and easy to play). I can already see that the map will be popular, R3lax said he liked it. Remember, the server will be 6-shot superflag, jumping, no rico, ctf. it's gonna be tight yall!

I'll get screenies up as soon as i fix some bugs, also sirichbeen, when u download it and its u hit browse, go to where it says bzedit32 and click that then click ok and then it will open.

You're assuming he has BZEdit and that he knows how to navigate his file system.

So, in other words, if you are unable to open a map to try it, best to just wait until there are screenshots or the map is hosted somewhere.

I have to admit, this is a pretty decent map. Good flag selections, nice places to hide and attack from, and has a good overall design. Nice job. :)

It is currently playing at unstable-bzflag.servegame.org:5001.

Nice map! It seems kind of "Two Castles (by viper)"ish, but with two walls and the base in the corner. I like it.

I didnt mean to make it like vipers, i didnt even know his existed before 2day... lol but when i went on his it was pretty good as well. I will be making more changes, I'm deleting a few flags, and adding a few others. Adding a few places where flags specifically spawn. I'll get to work on it... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!

Ive made a dramatic change to my map, take a look for yourself. I've also changed flag placement and stuff like that, but in order to see that, visit the server for yourself, maybe day after 2morrow.

Easy Target, I've loaded your map in BZEdit and I really like it. Superb job. Two things I wanted to point out:

A. The thirteenth object (a Link) is not linked To: or From: any teleporter, and there are only two. Consider linking it or deleting it. Perhaps add another link and link the upper teleporters to the lower corner teleporters. Make sure BOTH sides of all teles are linked.

B. Add another route (platforms or blocks or something?) to get to the bases. If a player gets a Shock Wave flag or anything of that sort they can camp at the teleporters and prevent anybody from getting up to the bases or walls.

Ah, I didn't know Easy Target's map had its own forum entry on bzflag.org....

Yes, it really is a nice map, and I'm glad that he asked me to host it. =D Now I'm just concerned about the recent ISP problems I've been having. And I also need to set up a backup system on the server so I don't have to do backups by hand. Does anyone have any suggestions for automated backup systems? My server runs Ubuntu 7.06.

Anyway. The reason it's taking so long to make changes is because of me. I've been busy with finals in college, but after tomorrow I'll get a 10-day break. Maybe I'll be able to get a lot of things done.

Quick question everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows how to do zone flagging, cuz i wanted to do that on my map, but i dont know how, OOO and I are config-ing flag placement and it would really help if you know how. If you do, pls pm me or OOO, thank you!!!

Thats puts 1 GM flag in the center

but, i made my map on bzedit, you dont use codes for that... I dont know how to add codes in.

Open TextEdit or Notepad. Then, go to File->Open and then open your .bzw file. Scroll down to the end, and insert

Then read the wiki a lot. There is tons of good stuff in there that's pretty self explanatory. BZEdit is only good for roughing out the map. To truly make a good map, you've almost always got to add stuff in by hand.

go to where the .bzw file is saved. Right click on it and press "Notepad" or whatever you have along those lines. For me, on Windows XP, its Notepad++ that I use.
Anyways, add that code to the bottom or top, changing whatever you want changed. Thats how you edit a map file outside of BZEdit.

EDIT: Oops, I guess Jefenry explained it.
