SirIchBeenCool's Awesome new map (my first)

this is my first (hopefully not only) map.
It will be ctf and will probally be added to.
Hope you like it!!

p.s. need host for it

While I know it's your first map, and though it is still in progress, I thought I'd point out a couple of things.

First, not sure why you have negative sized objects, but it's probably a good idea to refrain from making those.

Secondly, very large, stretched objects fill up the map, but they offer very little playing tactics or looks to your map. Try making smaller pyramids or blocks to jump on, hide behind, bounce shots off of, etc.

And do not take this as a "YOU ARE TERRIBLE" post, because that is not what it is intended to do at all.

Here's a (bad) screenshot for all of you who can't host a server or use BZEdit.

i see what you mean it doess look empty...but i just started playing around with it so it shouldnt be awesome just yet....but it will be
Ill get to work on it and i should get a newer version or it soon.
I dont know how to make screenshots because my comp is dumb so could you do it?... thx

To take screenshots, press prt scr on your keyboard, then open paint and paste it in. If you can host it locally, simply press F5 to take one. If that doesn't work, I dunno what to do.

Anyways, it looks like you could use some more objects, but make them small.

thx for hte tip boinkage, here is the radically chnaged one with fewer pyrimids and more st zones.. much better

ok i cant get it on becuase it is too big (1mb) so it is in BZedit formant...sorry guys

heres another one minor changes.. mini maze type things for cover and hiding spots... some other minor changes that you probally cant see...

still looks a little empty, maybe try adding (like DW said) a few littler pyramids on the ground and maybe a few smaller walls (if using rico) to provide rico opportunities, cuz pyramids dont offer rico. other than that you're onto something :D

thats not true i would say they offer the most rico. just depends on the map. but on most maps they are awesome for rico.

btw i need help with names have a few lined up but im open to ideas :)

also most importantly i need a host...

p.s. if you open a sever to play this post some screenies here plz i cant do them... thx for the help!

i have finally tested it due to Easy Target's help (thx man)
I have some work to do but now it will be much better thx to easy target! can get screenies now and will have them on next versions

here is the new one with some minor changes just to the apperance and sercretly (idk if that is a word or not :) ) i have some screenies but i cannot jump yet so they are at ground lvl sry...

looks pretty good so far, try adding a few more "things" on the ground to provide more cover, unless you want the people to actually dodge, oh god!!!!!!! lol jk, I see where you are going with this, its looking pretty good keep it up!!! 8)

by that i meant that you cant shoot the person behind you off a pyramid, you will need a wall, or a flat surface. Pyramids offer good rico if you are shooting a person above you such as wings and stuff... unless you add an upside down pyramid above that, then the bullet would come back down and offer a little more rico :wink:

Looks like it's developing nicely. You're doing much better on object placement. It's starting to look a lot more playable.

Can't wait to see final map in Map Releases! Don't have time to test the current .bzw on my server, though.

I have finally thought of a name... "SirIchBeenCool's X-factor"
like it?.... here are some screenies on it..sry still on grd lvl and mostly have them for the radar...Also the map if included...
still dont have a host...(NN plz respond on pm i need to know if you can host my maps!)

If it's the final one, then shouldn't you have made that post under the Map Releases forum? Also make sure to pick a license for your map file so that other know how we can use it. The post at the top of the Map Releases forum should give you some info about licenses.

I know i'm not Blast, but No you dont. You dont even need one to post a map. You get a license if you want no one to Take it and say its theres its like a Copy right. Here is a site i use for Map licenses. http://creativecommons.org/

Um, wrong. Licensing "comprises the permissions, rights and restrictions imposed on software" that people have (source - yes, I know using Wikipedia as a source is evil, but this is the most convenient source for you to understand. Ask any IP lawyer and they will tell you the same thing.). With no license, it is only right to automatically assume the person owns full copyright and you have absolutely no rights at all, except where copyright law permits (such as fair use). An OSI-approved or Creative Commons license is a must if you post the actual map source on the BZBB. This license can not allow the creator of the work to require "if you host this, you must do this..." or require notification of any kind.

Also, what happened to your complete lack of grammar? Capitalizing non-proper nouns and forgetting your apostrophes. Tisk tisk.
