No offense, but do you think you can model and texture like that?

OK. Didn't think so.

Well, I dunno, you tell me? "Rat's Nest" seems more like a name for a map instead of a bunch of objects.

By the way, this is projected to be hosted by BZFX. I guarantee it's awesomeness. This also guarantees the objects won't be available for mass consumption. That is all.

By the way, your English and grammar is really horrid...

Awesome, Proves the BZFX "awesomeness" (like that word..)
Like the texturing and "shinyness" (cant spell, sry)
Dont really see how this would be a map but I know it is in the "works in progress" so more will be on the way!
Winny, I have an idea! You probally thought of this but, you should go with a kinda "Pack Rat" theme to the Rat's Nest.... random objects and a mousetrap and cat that kills you would be cool. Well anyways good luck and happy coding!

p.s. I am sorry but I (like most bzflaggers) CANNOT SPELL! Sorry for my dumbness (thats cool too)

Uh, how is it not "a map"?

I stated earlier this was not the final placement of the objects, it is merely a preview of them.

Alright, I've spent the last day working on the walls, ceiling, and refining the texturing on the current objects. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to add a few new objects, and maybe complete the base structures by the end of the weekend.

I have to agree with most others who have posted here (and myself I guess) and say that that looks BRILLIANT!

The only this I would suggest would be changing the floor material to a similar texture, to match the surroundings a bit.

May I inquire as to why it is named "Rat's Nest"?

Yeah, a new floor texture is coming tomorrow I hope.

I named it Rat's nest partly after the Halo 3 map I styled it after... Although it looks more like a cross between "The Pit" and "Rat's Nest" more then just Rat's Nest.

If you are going to insult someone's grammar, you should probably use good grammar when doing so. Your sentence should read, "By the way, your English and grammar are really horrid."

To be honest, it's disappointing to see people release non-free maps for a game that is free software.

Many mappers release their maps under special licenses to stop other people from hosting the map. It's a little disappointing as you said but it's gotten to be a frequent problem.

As for A Meteorite, I don't quite know why you are telling people if they are allowed to use the map and not Winny, who is after all the map author.

If Winny has the skills to model his map AND common sense think through the design, there isn't really an issue.

This looks to be an epic map, Winny, keep up the good work - It's neck-a-neck with my new map!

As much as I like "shiny" maps...

From what I can see right now, the map looks like it could have pretty good gameplay. As it improves I should be able to comment more on it.

Because Winny and I have already discussed this.

We have been eye-to-eye on this map for months.

Well, if that's how you feel. Put it this way: there are open-source IDEs that people use to make commercial projects.

Maps are an art form, there is no reason someone should have to release their hard work into the world for people to (ab)use.

As for the map itself, I'm proud of Winny. I think he's made terrific progress and it will be a great work. The modeling and texturing is just superb and topnotch.
