If you want a host for your maps, i suggest contacting Ahs3, cruel dog, nn, or many other hosts. all you need to do is private message them a copy of your map file, and tell them the configs that you want your map to be. Then it's a matter of time until they get the map up. :)

Probably not, unless you can find it on the server list, seeing as he hasn't said so here.
First of all, no one must host your map. It helps to get your map hosted if it has good quality and is playable. (and also to the hoster's liking -given)

If someone wants to host it, they will.

And by the way try to add some flags to the map because if not it won't be that much fun without flags. oh yeah like some said don't just take bit's from maps and make it your own "creation" unless the map is already yours, then you can create a mix otherwise don't do it.

zone
name example_zone
position 0.0 0.0 0.0
size 1.0 1.0 1.0
rotation 0.0
zoneflag GM 2 OO
flag L SW good bad
team 0 1 2 3 4
safety 1 2 3 4
end

you add a zone and on a zone you add the flags.

http://my.bzflag.org/w/Zone
http://my.bzflag.org/w/Flag_List

and another thing search the wiki
http://my.bzflag.org/w/Main_Page
the answers are out there all you have to do is search for them!

just kidding! :)
glad to help

but seriously search the wiki then if you can't find the answer then you post a question.

Then add them in a text editor, it really isn't hard to open up a text editor and type a few lines out. In most situations, it's faster to type it then adding flags with a GUI.

Everything you need to know about testing and running a server is right here:
http://my.bzflag.org/w/Creating_A_Server

You can create a private server and test your map there.
Current Server: hosting.BZADDICT.net:5173
Former Server: Fairserve.bzflag.org:5259

Why have two maps that are basically identical to each other? All it does it make possible hosts more confused. Stick with one and just work off of that.

well i think this map is too big for the few things you have on this map. i suggest you either make it smaller or add more objects to this map. no offense but this really needs work to my point of view. im not trying to be mean but thats what i think.

The big wall across the whole map seems familiar but it is obviously not stolen or anything.

I miss GMWAR. It'll be up again someday.

I'll have to check out ibzedit. I was looking at the code fluffy put up and it is pretty neat for a map editor I think.

Fluffy, have you tried running your map on your own Mac? You can at least serve it for other computers on your network without much trouble.

I just served up your map here on my macbook and was able to play in it on the macbook with bzflag 2.0.10.

Open terminal
type
cd /Ap<tab>
cd BZ<tab>
cd Co<tab>
cd Ma<tab>
./bzfs -world <drag and drop your map.bzw file into terminal after typing ./bzflag -world <space>>

That's all I had to do to test your map.

It looked like this:
Wonderbread:/ tadd$ cd Applications/
Wonderbread:Applications tadd$ cd BZFlag-2.0.10.app/
Wonderbread:BZFlag-2.0.10.app tadd$ cd Contents/
Wonderbread:Contents tadd$ cd MacOS/
Wonderbread:MacOS tadd$ ./bzfs -world /Users/tadd/Downloads/first.bzw

After you type in ./bzfs etc... it prints out some lines of stuff and hangs there. Now I double clicked on BZFLAG on my dock and it runs. I tell it to join a game and for the server I type in localhost and connect. There I am in your map.

Once it is served on your mac you can connect to it from other computers on your network. You may have to mess with your firewall settings on the Mac but that is pretty easy too.

i have run my map and currently am trying to give myself administrative privliges. whenever i try to put a password in the config options i try to start it up but it says "Failed (exit=1)" any idea what that means? or any ideas on how to get the password to work? i am using

Code: Select all

-passwd PASS
. i also browsed the wiki and added cool stuff like sliding and rain of frogs. if anybody was wondering how you get from 1 section on my map to another, the center can be driven through. i added an SW world weapon in the center that goes off every 10 seconds. everyone is saying adding 2 maps is confusing so if you want my newest one, send me a private message and ill give it to you. (notice my typing has improved! :lol-old: )

Hmm, that's really strange. As your password syntax is correct.

I can just suggest to upload here your current config file so we could test and analyze it. (But don't delete the -passwd line, just delete your password in that line before uploading it)

Run bzfs from the command line so you get the actual error.

I tried Blender. It looks like it could make a Pixar movie.
In fact, yes, it probably could. I use Blender for short animations.
