Username changes are working again. Turns out there's a permission I had to enable for all users. Keep in mind that if you change your name, someone else can take your old name. If this occurs, there isn't much we can do for you.

Well done...thanks to blast and the others who were/are involved in this upgrade.

Please don't forget to fix the case sensitivity issue for user names via weblogin. :o)
Apropos: Will weblogin be replaced or supplemented by LDAP service and/or the account management daemon (GSOC'08 project "BZAuthd")? I remember the discussion that phpbb3's LDAP support was one of many arguments to upgrade the bzbb.

Ah, yeah, forgot about weblogin.

As for LDAP or another auth system, that won't be implemented for a while. phpBB's LDAP support isn't perfect so it would need some additional changes before that would be a viable method.

The theme has been nailed down and should now look a lot better.
Ranks have been updated as well.

Wow, it looks really shiny! Thank you to the lovely people who made this happen!

I do have one question, I was looking at my "Control Panel" and saw that the "Change Username" field's description does not include exclamation points as a supported character. Will this affect me, or is it that they are still supported and you forgot to say so?

Amoeba!

We are moving away from supporting symbols in usernames, so if you change your username they will not be allowed.

Please also note that we will most likely be changing themes again, as the current one has some problems.

I also notice that I no longer show up on maps as registered. It's a pity, I do like being Amoeba!, not just plain Amoeba, but if I must change it I will.

Amoeba! (soon to be plain old Amoeba)

ACK! Looks like user info has gone back to being on the right side of posts (they were in their normal place - to the left of the person's post - the last time I was here). Looks like I'm just going to have to start getting used to scanning across the screen when I read through here...

I sort of like the user info on the right. Out of the way more.

I prefer it on the left- user info is right there as you begin reading the post. I don't know anything about phpBB templates (I'm a vBulletin guy) so I don't know how hard it is to change the layout around.

There is the byline at the start of the post, so I have to say I do kinda like all the avatars and stuff on the right. Keeps it out of the way.

I identify people much more quickly by their avatars, personally. I'm sure I'm not the only one. ;)

A lot of the art would have to be mirrored (rounded corners, the "online" banner, etc).

If someone wants to make a copy of this theme (proglass) that has it on the left, then I would consider installing it as an optional style, but it would have to pull as much art from the main theme as possible to keep maintenance down.

It is a change sure, but I don't think it's something that the admins should spend a lot of time on, there are better things to fix (GroupManager, anyone?) :)
