hey there,

a new ducati public server, preferebly hosted somewhere around US east coast, would be very welcome.
the only US one left so far was bzgirl, which went offline recently. beside the public ducati server, it also left open a slot for a ducati match server, 1v1 match/pub server, 1v1 replay server, and pillbox match server.

the US east coast is a great location because it makes possible for players from different continents to play together with the lowest lag possible. though, beside there are plenty of unactive servers hosted in great locations atm, there are no servers on these locations to host some of the most important maps, the ones the leagues are based on.

its a fact that most american league players are very involved with GU these days, but there still may be some that prefer ducati, so would be nice to have at least one server around, just in case :)

I would be willing to help out. My server is located in Ohio at the same datacenter as planet mofo. It has a 10mbit connection. You can check out the ping times to bzexcess.com if you want.

Indeed, this is a real problem for duc league lately.

I think Quol is probably one person to talk to. He has several GU servers running with good ping times. In the old times there was a duc quol server if i recall correctly....

Quol has setup a ducati server some time ago :

Would be cool tho if you could set one up for the ducati league.
The main duc servers are almost all european which is
sometimes a bit difficult for US/non-europeans to play on.

well - I actually had time to do it now. it is in the list server - quol.bzflag.bz:5162.

Test it out and let me know if there are any issues with it.

It is mostly the same config as the match servers (acceleration settings etc..), except that anyone can spawn/talk, and there are no matches that can be started/played on it.

I have one running as well at bzexcess.com:5159 (3 shot, no flags, no jumping, random map). If you guys would recommend any groups I could give extra permissions to, let me know via PM.

Updated it for 2-shot. Also, seeing that Quol's is maxed out with 10 per team, I increased mine to 15 per team just in case.
