Post by libervisco »

Greetings!

I would like to invite you to join us as we prepare a tournament of Free Software games, including very likely (and with your voices in its favor) BZFlag. Please check out this announcement for more information: http://www.nuxified.org/article/nuxifie ... re_invited

We want to shake up the Free Software gaming world everywhere, no matter if you use GNU/Linux, BSD or heck even Windows. We want to show the world that Free Software gaming is alive and kicking.

Cheers

UPDATE

Post by libervisco »

BZFlag's chances of being a part of the upcoming Freedomware Gamefest 2007 (http://www.freedomware-gamefest.com) are still fairly low, because we don't have enough BZFlag players.

And it is up to you, the BZFlag community, to step up on that particular thing.

We need as many players as possible, preferably at least 20 to be able to have BZFlag included.

The Freedomware Gamefest 2007 is basically a number of concurrent tournaments organized as part of one event with the purpose of promoting Free Software gaming. BZFlag tournament could be one of those, if we only had enough players. You can make it happen.

In addition to players we would also need your help with setting things up, since this a multi-game festival we don't have all the expertise on particular games so we heavily rely on the actual game communities to help us carve up good rules and guidelines as well as server settings for the tournaments.

To motivate you, yes, we do have prizes involved. In fact, a community member of your own promised to provide a prize for the BZFlag tournament if enough players join in. Obviously we can't have a prize if we don't have a tournament in the first place.

We will also have an universal gamefest prize (that's actually the biggest one) for which all winners of the particular tournaments will be eligible. So if you play a BZFlag tournament and win, you are eligible to win an universal prize too, based on your overall performance in the BZFlag tournament.

That said, you can sign up here: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/sign_up_h ... he_tourney Mention BZFlag as your favorite game to play if you'd like to be counted as a BZFlag player.

November 10 is when we're planning to issue the last press release and start up the last big promotional campaign. It would be great if we could know that BZFlag is in by then. The games should start right about a week after. So there's not too much time left.

To help step up the chances of BZFlag participation we are looking for two things:

Champion player to spread the word through in-game messages - If you are a respected good player you can mention our gamefest and encourage fellow players to join in.

Write a brief article about BZFlag - Show your love for BZFlag. Write a testimony about why you love to play it and why do you think others should try it too. We will use your article to promote the gamefest and BZFlag's participation in it. You can submit your articles here: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/calling_f ... _that_game

Cheers
