what on earth is an exit=1 error?

I was trying to test a map with the startserver funcion of bzflag. I hit startserver and got Failed (exit=1).

what does this mean?

what is going wrong?

Check your world file. I'm not sure exactly how it has to be set up, but I think the client is rather picky about the world files you use when you start the server up within the client.

You can try starting a server from the command prompt, so that you get an actual error message back.
