Re: usergroup problem
You need to have the
-groupdb "/path/to/groupdb.txt"
in the groupdb.txt you will have the group names and the perms in them.
example
BAM.ADMIN: ban kick requireidentify setvar kill antikick antiban antikill veto
BAM.JRADMIN: *BAM.ADMIN -ban +shortban -antikick
that is something what you should have in your groupdb.txt
When it doubt, read the wiki

Re: usergroup problem
I never tried the group file as a .bzw but i think its not supposed to be a .bzw, the most common extension server owners use is a .txt. so instead of usergroups.bzw it should usergroups.txt
Re: usergroup problem

Re: usergroup problem
What do you see when you run the /grouplist command on your server?
Re: usergroup problem
when i do that i get:
corgi.users
corgi.members
corgi.owner
Everyone
local.admin
verified
if it knows its there why doesnt it work?

Re: usergroup problem
Ah im not sure if this is still a trouble. but when the forums changed to phpbb3 there was a trouble with groups on all servers. the way to fix it was to change the name of the group to all CAPS in both the forums and the groupfile. By default the group should be all caps in the forums. Try changing the name of the groups in the file to all caps and see if that works.
Re: usergroup problem
Okay, here's a couple other things to check.
Run a /showgroup and see what groups you see. That will list groups that you are a member of.
Also make sure you are running a public server and that it shows up on the list publically. Check on here to see if you see your server: http://my.bzflag.org/db/?action=LIST
If you don't see it there, then your server is not on the list, thus you won't get authentication or global groups.

Re: usergroup problem
oh i see...well would a localhost server show up on the list server? i'm only running it as a test on my computer and dont know if thats the problem
uhh according to the list my server is in fact not listed...however i dont know how long it would recognize my server was added because i started it only now that i am posting this

Re: usergroup problem
A server that is not using the public list will not support authentication, and therefore won't support global groups.
Re: usergroup problem
i see well your on to something because my test computer doesnt ever go to the list server...so i suppose ill check in again if it doesnt work when i put it on my server that connects to the list
