I am having trouble connecting to a private server with no internet connection.
It works perfectly when I have am connected to a network. But when I disconnect from my network I cannot connect to the local server.
I start the server with a simple bzfs and connect using with server both 127.0.0.7 and localhost but none work....
Sometimes I connect to the server but I cannot spawn, and sometimes I don't even get past the trying part.
I never had trouble in 2.0.16, but I guess 2.4.0 doesn't like me.......
Below is a link to a video of what is happening. ( You will have to download the avi )

Anyone have any idea of what is happening?

Re: Trouble with a private test server.
Can you verify that 2.0.16 still works correctly in this environment?

It works perfectly in 2.0.16.

Re: Trouble with a private test server.
It works fine for me on Windows XP with 2.4.0. I tried with a network cord disconnected, and with the network interface disabled. Both let me join my local server. I did not, however, try without any NIC installed at all. Perhaps your NIC goes away completely when it's disconnected? If so, you could try making a loopback plug if are able to make network cables (would require a crimper, a connector, and some network cabling). You could also try installing a loopback network adapter via the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" driver. (In Windows 7, go to the device manager, right click on the computer name, choose 'add legacy hardware', choose the manual option, pick network adapters, then Microsoft, and Microsoft Loopback Adapter). You'd want to set the IP of the loopback adapter to something other than your LAN address scheme so it doesn't conflict, or just leave it at DHCP and disable it.
Re: Trouble with a private test server.
How exactly do I set that up, Do you have to connect to that network or what?
What is the exact purpose of the adapter?

Re: Trouble with a private test server.
Do you network adapters vanish when you disconnect them? Check under the Network and Sharing Center's "Change Adapter Settings". That will show the NICs. Do they all go away when you are not connected?
Re: Trouble with a private test server.
No they do not vanish when I disconnect them.

Re: Trouble with a private test server.
Then I don't know what is causing problems for you. It worked fine for me, even on my Windows 7 PC.
Re: Trouble with a private test server.
Hmmm, I seemed to have got it working be turning off my wireless adapter. When I try to join the server it will say something on the lines of, "Cannot connect to server list." ( forget what is actually said :\ )

Re: Trouble with a private test server.
That just means it can't reach the list server because you're not online.
