Router problem

Post by quicka_thanu »

I set up a public server about a week ago, and set up port forwarding on my router. The server ran fine for about two or three days, and now I am getting this error:

File transfer terminated with error from libcurl 28: Operation too slow.

The server does not appear in the public server list anymore, and it cannot be connected to using the public IP address. It can, however, accept clients from the local network behind the router.

I am pretty sure this is a problem with port forwarding, so I set up a DMZ for the whole machine (allowed full access from outside), and the problem went away. I know port forwarding still works (at least partly) because I have forwarded the ssh port for a while now and it still accepts connections via my public IP.

Any ideas? I have a feeling it is just buggy router firmware.

In case it is relevant, my router is an Actiontec MI424WR running the latest firmware.

maybe your firewall has an issue? Maybe you need to let other people on your server =0 ;)
