Suppose that depends what you mean by lag exactly. Do you just get a low frame rate, or do you experience high network latency (or packet loss or jitter)? There are many things that can cause lag. Make sure you aren't running any software that would be downloading stuff in the background.

Slow internet is not the only cause of lag. If you are far away from the server, geographically speaking, then you will lag.

That could be because the username and password that you used to sign up here is incorrect. Use the same exact user name and password that you use here in the join game menu of bzflag

OR It's possible you may have a proxy preventing you from IDing within BZFlag. Open this file in Notepad (or any other text editor):

Code: Select all

My Documents\My BZFlag Files\2.0\config.cfg
Go down to this line after opening config.cfg:

Code: Select all

#set list http://my.BZFlag.org/db/
Now change it to this:

Code: Select all

set list http://my.BZFlag.org:81/db/
If its not a proxy error, this will do nothing. If it is on the otherhand this will hopefully bypass it.

Good luck! :D

EDIT: This applys only for Windows. Linux, as stated below is different.

The terminal in linux is not a text editor.

Uh, no, that's like saying you can edit a text file with the Command Prompt in Windows. The terminal can be used to LAUNCH other editors (like vim, emacs, nano, pico, etc), but it itself will not magically edit files.
