help on error

Post by Saber »

Sometimes I can't join a server because of a message saying "md5 error. removing offending file" or something like that where I should see "Entering game". Could someone help me?

How about this:
Open BZFlag goto, Options->Cache Settings

Clear both listserver and file caches, this will make it where you have to download all your maps again.

Also what version of bzflag are you using?

Sometimes it just does that... But rare. Does it happen on all servers? If it's just one, then I bet that it's just that single map with the problem.
I haven't touched BZFlag for years, but maybe sometime I'll make a comeback.

I guess it's usually the server's problem. It seems to me that the server generates a MD5 for the map download and passes the MD5 to your client. It might be the connection or something, not sure. Empty your cache, give it a day, and try again. If it still happens, try contacting the server admin, or just give up on it. (Like I do on some of those servers the can't pass you the player data for a reasonable time.)
