What is an un-even team?

Post by Peter »

I have heard many different ways as to what is an uneven team , I think that you should only capture the flag if the teams are above 5 and within on player of difference , anything else and I kick or 5-10 minuit ban. What do you think?

So, 4vs4 is "uneven"?

As long as it makes a significant effect on gameplay it is uneven. 7vs9 makes little to no effect on gameplay. neither do 4vs5 or 3vs4. 2vs1 does, and so does 2vs7. You need to use something called "common sense" to figure this out. "Common sense" is not that hard to come by.

An uneven team is a team with an odd amount of players on it. duh

additional note: 100vs102, however unlikely, would have little to ABSOLUTLY NO effect on gameplay compared to teams with the same amount of players.

Why not just state that "Team A" may have no more than 120% of "Team B".
If this 120% is exceeded, the teams are declared uneven.

Hell, better yet, just use the fairCTF plugin...

Good idea CBG

As for me1 saying that I should get common sense , this is just an insult and bares no contributment to the BZFlag community , what-so-ever.

Wait, what?

He just said that you need to use common sense and stating that it is not hard to get. He never said you didn't have any and should get some.

Anyways, fairCTF's default options accomplish what a good majority would consider even or uneven. There is also other topics with very pertinent information.

Right below.

I don't know which you wanted so I gave you FairCTF for Linux and Win32 aswell as source. I dont know what source is so if anyone could tell me that'd be great! :D

Fairness or equality can depends on more than simple numbers. Skill and teamwork come into it aswell. Things a plug-in can't really help with.

One could develop a mathematical algorithm to measure a team's skill (something as simple as strength index would do the job) and require that they're, let's say, within 10% of each other.

Well, in CTF, the collective skill of the team is what really matters. Sure, you could measure each person's skill than compare all of the team players, but that seems kinda pointless.

Thats confusing CannonBallGuy :P

From what I could gather from those many many definitions of source code is that it's code that tells a complier what a program should look like once its been compiled to a binary.

...:P

Hope im right. Either way I'll keep reading.

Thx CBG

The source code _is_ the program, before it is compiled.
To make bzflag, people have written source code, some "C", some "C++"...
Take all of this code, which is in many files and you have the "BZFlag Source".
Only once it is compiled do you have a "Binary" a.k.a an Application or Program.

True, met. I know that I sometimes have a TERRIBLE score, but yet I'm awesome at capping.
