Castle in the Forest

Post by Cedric. »

I've been working on this map for a while now and this is what I have so far. I plan to add more trees around the border and maybe add some rock formations. The catapults actually
fling you across the map if you jump on them. By the way, the trees are LouMan's. (Thankyou) :D

Wow, I remember you showing me the work in progress of that way back when (about a year or so now?). It's come quite a ways.

This is looking great. BZFX is all geared up to host this map when you're ready.

I just finished the rock formation. I'd really like to get some feedback on how it looks.
There's a small tunnel going through it. I think in addition to rock formations I might also add a simple-looking cottage somewhere around the border. Any suggestions on what else I can add would be very much appreciated. :)

Looking nice, but you might wanna remove the normals from the mesh that goes around the map... It looks kinda weird with normal smoothing on such a low-rez mesh.

The rock formation looks good, where on the map would it be?

I think the tunnel in the rock would be better if the ground had a separate texture from the rock. Maybe a brown tinted roof texture or something to make dirt?

Some more pics on addressing your questions and ideas.

The first is a pic of the front entrance

The second image shows the interior of the rock tunnel. Now you can tell the difference between the ground and the walls. I just moved the rock a bit down so you wouldn't see the ground.

The last pic shows the rock in comparison with the other objects in the map. There will be more rock formations too.
The normals have also been fixed by thanks to Winny.
