The lighting on the planet is better in this one....

It looks like the lighting on the tank side nearest isn't right. Unless their is another light source, but then the planet side nearest wouldn't be as dark

You mean the original image, or yours? If the original image was licensed as such, then by your own admittance you're in violation of the terms of the copyright.

That doesn't make the problem go away... was the original photo released under that copyright, or are you releasing the image yourself under the copyright? All I'm saying is that if the original image copyright specified that no "Derivative Works" are to be made, then it's not a good idea to do so.

Nice work there. In my opinion, though, the stars are at a constant density. There should be a little more variety in how the stars are situated. But I like it anyway.
