You haven't tested the map yet, and you're releasing it?

Might want to try it out yourself first before releasing it to such a large audience... then you'll be able to catch flaws beforehand, and it will be more ready for the general public when you release it.

Actually no I didn't... I'm not a general forum mod... just a developer.

Perhaps "release" wasn't the right word, but starting up a map for one test is quite minimal relative to what most people do before posting .bzw's. And a lack of testing really isn't a good reason not to post screenshots.

No worries... you didn't do anything improper, I was just making a suggestion about certain things that are good steps to take when posting map files. I know sometimes you have to do things a step at a time... but testing is usually something you'll want to do before posting files. At least once, to make sure everything works. There's no time pressure to release/post maps, you know. :)

If it takes you five or ten minutes to make some screenshots, you can save all the rest of us a lot of combined time, and ensure that a lot more people will see your map. Many of us either don't have time to start up bzfs for every file we see posted on the forums, or aren't able to do so at the present time and situation.

Wow not bad would be a sweet CTF with some help and editing. The thing that i'm guessing are supposed to be bases need to be colored bases. and you need to resize some other stuff that doesnt fit.

SirIchBeenCool:

Looks very nice.
I like how you took blocks and formed it into a tank shape. ;)
It looks quite playable, and will be fun to play too.

One idea though.. (if you get the chance to do this) .. make it almost like Viper's Two Castles where there's a few teleporters on the ground that connect to the main bridge in the center.

Overall, it looks beautiful.

Hoping to play it soon!

You should add some stuff in that open space in the corners. :)

Err, what open stuff?

Looks a tiny bit cramped to me, actually. I'd maybe get rid of some of the pyramids in the corners. The map looks like it could be fun, but without enough players, everyone would just be hiding behind a pyramid, or whatever.

Take a look at good maps such as HiX, Overlord, Pillbox, etc...

Notice one thing in common? They all have lots of open space(s), mixed in with slightly high-density areas. The mix between these two helps to create a good map, with lots of dynamics.

Go take a look at the top 5-10 maps on the serverlist, how many are cramped? Not many at all.

I've SEEN those all, but obviously I prefer not to play my games on the Great Plains, where near means far and "almost there" means "five minutes away" :x

Thanks for that.
Maybe learn to read, and THEN reply.. (Oh, and there's and "edit" button for a reason.)

Both SirIchBeenCool's map, and all the other maps that I mentioned (Overlord, etc..), are the same size. (400 units)

Oh, and nice try editing your post above there. Unfortunately, the edit text at the bottom gives you away.

1st of all.. yes, we can tell that Winny is arguing with a kid. Is it not easy to tell? And don't always try to brag that you are winning a conversation, because most topics can be posted on multiple times. So, you can make it a big fight if you want to. It's your choice.

2nd of all...

Don't make several posts that are trying to improve your thought that you are right and Winny is wrong. It just doesn't work that way.

Well.. (unfortunately) .. this topic grew from good to bad.

I like the close quarters of this map. Haven't had a chance to play on it yet, unfortunately, but it looks really nice, and I think it would be really fun with lots of stealth flags. :)
