Find The Base!

Post by F687/s »

This is a simple little program that I wrote (in The World's Greatest Language). This map is created to resemble a similar puzzle-style map that is randomly-generated (like the Party TIME maps found on Twilight). The general idea is that there is a grid of rooms, and one of them has a base in it. The goal is to find the base and cap your team's flag (HTF) before the other team for teh win. However, some rooms will kill you if you enter them, and there are also rooms that cannot be accessed, meaning you will have to find a way to them. In addition, you can also win by taking your flag to the other team's base and capping it there, but that is more risky.

I have included a sample file that was generated, for those of you who just want to play it. I have also included the source file in a .zip file. To run it, just run ftb.pl, which will produce an ftb.bzw file. The other (shell.bzw) file is what is used to generate the shell of the map. I would keep it, if I were you.

The script requires a working Perl interpreter, as well as the File::Copy and List::Util modules. You will also need the HoldTheFlag plugin (you can comment out that part in the shell.bzw file if you're just testing it for personal use).

Tell me what you think. Even if it involves large hammers.

A screenshot of a generated map. Not the same map that was posted, but it shows a good example of the strategy and tactics that are prevalent in the generator. ;-)

great map dude... keep up the good work
Humor helps us to think out of the box. The average child laughs about 400 times per day, the average adult laughs only 15 times per day. What happened to the other 385 laughs?

Doesn't twilight already have 'Base Hunter' version of this?
