I have to say that if I were looking to host a map, I'd want to see a few screen shots, and be able to download the map to examine the file, especially from somebody who's new to map making.
Honestly, Delta Lead, your map, were it "stolen" wouldn't be worth much at all, no matter how good it is.
This is an open source game. If you want to gain respect in this community, you contribute something to it. While you are certainly within your rights to not release a map into the public domain, or license it in an open source friendly way, we're certainly within our rights to ignore you.
Don't worry about people "stealing" your maps. We just had a recent incident where somebody took another author's map, made a few minor changes, and called it his own. He got shouted down in a big hurry. (He also posted an apology.)

Re: Also
Sadly people can still /saveworld and host an unreleased map without your permission. If you want to get as close to a copyright as possible, I'd do "/saveworld -m name" in a private server. That will make the map a giant mesh making it a lot harder for noobs to take your map and change a few things and call it their own. If the map is hosted, you could contact the hoster and see if he'd host the original map instead, as it would be faster for clients to download.Delta Lead wrote:... i dont want to be hosted with out credit.
I'd also go with the most restrictive license allowed. According to the license thread, all your license must allow is "unrestricted use and distribution of the map." So slap on a http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ license.
Of course this doesn't mean anything if people just don't care that they steal.
