On some maps I've been writing, I've had to toss in blocks and pyramids to prevent spawning in certain regions (for example, in what I know will be high-kill areas, or areas which will be inherently confusing for the newly spawned.)
This is a waste of rendering work at runtime. It'd be nice to have an additional object in map files, a 2-D region in which spawns cannot occur. This would only be used at runtime when a spawning location is picked - it would require no rendering whatsoever.
