Street racing

once again i'm trying to make a decent map... idea this time is, u guessed it: street racing (a mix of a race track and Urban Jungle). Here is an example (see below). please let me know if u think it's any good and if i should continue working on it.

Looks good! The screenshots seem a little vague however. Can you explain more about what it involves? Thanks.

ok, I've had a few beers, but I don't see any "Urban Jungle" in those screenshots, unless you are referring to those structures with multiple levels - of which alot of maps have.

lol, i was expecting that kind of comment (without the beer part).
i prefer not to do too much work on a map if i'm not sure that it's gonna be popular. here is a perfect example of that: a basic model, just showing the idea.
but since at least two ppl seem to like it, i'll continue working on it, adding more buildings (to make it look kinda like New York). after that "barricades" will be placed, showing the track to players.
there will be added one (maybe more) parking lots-places where tanks can get different flags (Agility, High speed, something like that).
there also will me a "police station" where rogue tanks will spawn. there will be about 1 rogue per 3-4 others (blues). the idea behind that is for rogues to be "police", trying to keep others from capping. like that if u r tired of racing, join police and start the shooting :-)

that sounds quite cool i like the idea. if you put lasers on it would be amazing on the sniping :) but the idea you have sound like a lot of fun with the rogues and what not i would love that

Guys, girls... if anyone wants to be a part of the map, u can submit your ideas for the "ground". the requirements are:

400 world size
created in "Wings 3D"
mountains (with tunnel) on one side OR a lake in the middle--- preferred
NO death objects
NO teleporters
please keep it under 20 high
use std_ground.png and/or wall.png textures only
using water.png is allowed

have fun! :P

I'm a little confused as to what you mean here. Do you mean the track?

by "ground" i mean the landscape (u can make the track also, if u want, i'll add the buildings on it)
if you want to create the ground AND the track, then it will become a group project, that is good :-)
and yes, i'll accept text files (u can just post ".obj" file, i'll convert it).

Well I got stuck in the little pyramid at the top of one of the tall buildings when I had wings... maybe that's on my side maybe not.

no, Wreck, it's not your side.
since this is my first time working with Wings3D and meshes, they are (most likly) messed up, causing you to get stuck...

I'm working on some simpler maps at the moment (trying to get more experience), so feel free to take ove the "street racing" project.

yeah. before it can be used in BZFlag, it'l have to be converted to .bzw, but that's not a big deal.

btw, what's "3ds max 9"? never heard of it...

wow, you got teamvss's overdoze map? and your using it for your long overdue street racing map? If this works out it will be nuts :D keep it coming.

sorry for criticizing ::: but i don't get the point of your "racing" idea!?
you take a map, change the physics and add rogues as police and thats a racing-map?
and where is the racing-part? will it be on a track or just driving around? what is the goal and how could it work? all the same team chasing or shooting each other?
sorry ::: but i don't get your concept! (while thinking of Tank Races by ahs3)

note: textures (buildings) WILL BE CHANGED! so don't make fun of them :P
