Sadly my IE7 seems to suck on this page. Opened 2 different pages simultanously and my computer didn't response due to RAM-size-issues. (Generally I need to open much more than 20 pages simulatously to get into RAM-issues)
I found out the following:
The start-page consumes about 200 MB RAM. (Reproducable)
The "maps online" page consumes even 600MB RAM! (Reproducable)
The other pages gladly don't consume nearly as much RAM.

Nice help pages, the map-link gives also a good map-overview. Altogether a nice work!

Btw, the page enlightened me finally about the meaning of "zaphod"... ;)

yes z[h]ero ::: there are some "heavy" pages!!! but with so many dsl-users in our days, it became a trick to assure a similar look on all os & browsers to convert a lot (i know:::almost to much) into images!

and thx to all for your input ::: it is highly appreciated!!!

Very nice design! I like the website and how you integrated the blog, however have a few things:

1) On the homepage the min-height seems to be very high, leaving a blank below the content, twice the size of the content.

2) eww hitcounter

3) It's not unbearable for me, but the load times are longer than with other websites.
You seem to have 10-60kb htmls? I'd recommend trimming some of that with css. This will speed up load times a little.
The images and css files are usually cached, but the html file is always reloaded, so it'd be good to make that as small as possible.

With FF3 I don't go over 100meg, with other tabs open. Perhaps it is your browser? :P

I must agree, a very awesome site.

My only complaint is that text of the "Tips and Tricks" section (all of the links on the second row of navigation) is taken from Dutchrai's site, even down to the "Dutch Bluff." Maybe add some new content there? And the <title> tags could be a little bit more descriptive.

Other than that, great site. One of the best fansites I've seen (by far).

I guess, the site will grow and become a big and popular website for BZF interested people.

well the visitors stats are not enormous (its a small bzf-world) ;-)
and at the bottom of each page you can find a counter (which I added later).
after 3 month online ::: we got over 400 visits (300 + about 100 before i added the counters).
- most visitors are from the US followed by Germany and the UK. (who wonders?)
- 75% are new visitors and stay about 3mins on the site looking into 3 menu items.
- only 5% are coming back to check out the news and updates :-(
- what is interesting that there are 99% direct access and only 1% through this forum or other links.
- most visited pages are the rookie-help, hosting, admins, blogging and pro-hints pages.
- maps-online, tips&tricks, maps-offline, zaphod and basic-help pages seems not making visitors very curious.
anyway thank you guys for who left a comment in the blog section!!!
and as i mentioned ::: its a small bzf-world ::: but fabulous community!!!

after all your comments in the news/blog section from http://www.zaphod.fr were gone ... and I'm terrible sorry about that !!!
i created a whole new site to exchange all news & activities about the 100.zaphod.fr servers!
blog.zaphod.fr
a "Guest-Book" and a "Your Tips&Tricks" chapter would love to see a comment from you!
(as of course any of the 23 posts that are up atm ;-)
as well a poll about your age is up to get an idea about the average age of bzflag players!
and most important ::: i will guarantee you a regular backup to save all your comments for the eternity ;-)
i hope you'll find it useful!?

It looks great! Packed with information and tips. I was happily surprised to find my HiX/Trix fusion map on the site 8) I noticed th "age poll" it's kind cool having an anonymous age poll. Keep up the good work!

thx guys for all your supporting input! without it ::: the site would never have developed to what it is right now!
as you are (maybe) aware of it, the site changed its name to www.bzflag.fr to let me play more quietly.
still up & running is the blog on blog.zaphod.fr to dig around the zaphod.fr archives and some explanation about the recent events and flops ........!

 happy surfing!
