heya,

wanted to let you all know that blast has been so kind to set up a new US - HiX server for us. I asked him if he could do it, because I noticed that euros had pretty good lag there (120-140ms) and thought it might become a better solution for the US/Euro matches. He's also said that he'd set up a replay server - if needed.

The server is located in Florida, USA.

I'd love to see bzexcess become official, since we don't really have an American server with this kind of lag for Euros (except BZPro.. :book: and also because bzexcess has proven to be very reliable already in the past. (Missile War 2 has been hosted there with no problems at all for weeks now).

So, go try it out and see what your connection is like. :)

Nice to see. I would like to try it, but what should i say... Im banned O_o

THIS SERVER IS AMAZING!!! I usually average 50ms jitter, but here i only averaged 8ms jitter! Whatever you guys do, do not take this server down. It doesn't even need udp!

It will need UDP. I just forgot to turn that option on.

Bwahaha, all Official GU league server must have UDP on, just so you know gentle giant.

It will need UDP. I just forgot to turn that option on.
No server absoulutely needs udp, its just to imfprove gameplay. It would be smart to have a map with udp, and without udp so players who dont have udp(like me) can play on a server that runs well. Also, if one map is full, players can start a fm at the other one. Works for everyone. :D

It would be smarter to fix your network so that UDP works. ;)

I would cast my vote strongly in favor of this server becoming official. Lag times seem favorable and the server has proven consistent. Blast is also a trusted bzflag developer and server owner, and could provide a good home for an official GU match server.

Ya, I can only second that. And on top of that, he's pretty much always available on IRC if needed.
