Re: BZFlag models and textures
If you have BZFlag, then you already have the textures. On Linux, they'd be saved in /usr/share/bzflag/ . I have no idea what it would be on otherOSs. The 3D models are hard-coded into BZ in C++ code, so it might not be easy to import to something like Blender or Wings3D.

Tank model page on the wiki http://my.bzflag.org/w/Tank
Tank object file: http://my.bzflag.org/resources/models/Tank.obj
As Ratfink said, the tank in bzflag is hard coded (for now), but the obj file above is based on it.

Re: BZFlag models and textures
I thought I heard 3.0 will allow custom tanks, does that mean it won't be hard coded on 3.0?
Re: BZFlag models and textures
It might be like how you can edit your client by changing the files in your BZFlag resources directory.

That code has currently been disabled, so initially the tanks will be the same as before. The plan is to get 3.0 stable and then do that in a minor release, I think.

Would it be possible to put the tank .obj file into the "Resources" folder?

Uhm... HUH? Your BZFlag resources folder? BZFlag is not an editor...

Re: BZFlag models and textures
You know how there is a resources folder in the BZFlag package? Well, guess what... If you change the images, it will change the images in BZ, if you change the .wav, it changes some of the sounds.

Re: BZFlag models and textures
The model is not used by the game, so it would be silly to ship data that is unused. The obj is also only an approximation of an older version of the tank model. We are looking into doing away with the hardcoded model and using external files, but that will be a feature for a later date.
