A "pass the ball" version of bzflag

Post by swine »

I am no coder, but I was wondering how hard it would be to create a "Pass the Ball" version where you can shoot to your teamates and have a "football" kind of play style.
It's sort of like ctf and rabbithunt together. Here is what I mean:

A single shot is launched by a world weapon.
It ricochets until it hits a player, that player now has the "ball" and turns white.
The object is to get to a position where he can shoot at the opposing team base.
Hitting said base destroys opposing team and gains a point for that team.

Players can also shoot the "ball" at team mates who, if hit, will then be carrying the ball.
If the shot misses, it continues to rico until hitting a player
shots can be intercepted by opposing team.

steamroller flags would have to be mandatory for opposing teams to "tackle"
Thats what I have so far. Let me know what you think
Looks like the gene pool needs a little chlorine!

If the tanks had mass, for blocking and tackling, you could make tank rugby!

I think that's not the goal and intention of the game ... but the BZSoccer league was using some technique to pass a flag to teammates, so that you actually could immitate the style of a ball game.

I think this would be an interesting style of play, and that its a good idea.

my improvements would be...

1 the ball has to be captured like a flag
2 the opposing team can shoot (non of this tackling stuff)
3 the "ball" bullet would be sparkly
For all of you who have asked what a hutty is, there is one as my avatar.

instant map... just add water

I was going to write a plug-in for this, but never found the time.
The plug-in info is here.
